With the amount of forgettable beers brewed in Guelph, it's no wonder they had to buy Unibroue. The Steam beer pours a dark transparent gold colour with a white head that lasts. The arima is slightly fruity with soime hoppish tinges. The beer tastes alright. Nothing overpowering comes to mind.

This one is one of my favorite Sleeman brews from the beginning, but is rumoured to be discontinued (or at least is hard to find now... no longer available at The Beer Store). But I was surprised to get one in their new mixed 12-pack (well, you get 3 of them). Pours a clean amber colour with lots of carbonation. The white head is creamy, has decent retention and leaves great amount of lace all around the glass. The nose is mild with some metallic water at first, but then goes into a nicer malt grain and some light fruit and floral aromas. Kind of a grainy mouthfeel too. Refreshing taste of light sweet malt with some decent hop in the finish and a clean light fruit aftertaste. One of Sleeman's better offerings, with their Fine Porter.

I’m glad I had tasted a number of west coast steam beers before I got to this, as Oakes says, you'd never know what real steam beer tasted like if this is all you had ever tasted....you’d think it tasted like a sweater spicey Sleeman lager with some light fruit tones and a sharper peppery finish. The amber like color ( actually a dark gold) didn’t translate to a maltier beer....and ,as usual, it was too carbonated...a fair commercial effort but really not enough taste, body or color to classify as representative of the style. Still the best product from this brewer and certainly the most malt of any Sleeman brew

A great steam beer. It is very consistent with the steam style of beer. Nothing extrodinary but for those who enjoy the style, for sure in the top percentile. A good quality, solid taste, nice visual/bottle, and slight aroma. Very filling!

Amber orange, small white cap of foam. Fruity and malty aroma, but still has little skunkiness that seems to dominate every Sleeman product (clear bottles). Malt and bitterness, but not a full flavor at all. Thin, highly carbonated makes this smooth and refreshing.

There was a lot of hoopla when this beer came out and it just didn't live up to expectations.
