True blonde dubbel is a decent take on the style, although the aroma is a bit one sided with banana, the flavor only adds an alcohol presence and some doughy yeasts to the mix. Not too shaby, decent at best.

Couldn't i just run towards you yelling moo? ..it's too late for that! ..
Drank on a Friday; 6:30pm, April 23rd 2010..with a homemade cheese + salami plate, ..booyaa!
Pours out a medium gold, light haze, and a good solid headring.. lacing could be better for a Belgian styled brew ..
main aroma of sweet yeasty honey, some light fresh pancake and honey infused fresh dough.. ... . Boy am I glad I didn't jump.
decent mouth, shows a bit of heat with a slight sweet tinge.. bitterness level is right on!
honey, dough, light maple, and light twisted apricot..
An enjoyable brew, mild on the complexities..but it does a nice job of giving you a simple middle of the road introduction to the Belgian side of beers.. and have it with a side dish/platter, one of the nicer SKA's i've had ...
Charlie had a theory. Even a trip to the bank could be exciting…if you wore a ski mask. -

Medium copper colored body with a large off white head. The smell is fairly funky with some notes of caramel candy. There is also some apple and a little bit of hay. This almost smells like stinky diaper. The taste is more stinky diaper, or at least what I imagine it to be. It's like strained apples and carrots were blended together. Plenty of alcohol come to play. Harsh.

What a treat to have this of the draft!!! Aroma was spiced oranged. Pours a nice dark yellow with a long lasting white head. Mouthfeel was well caronated and medium body. Flavor was spiced and sweet. Some hops were noticed and a nice candy finish.

Pours a gold/darker blonde with thin white head and some lacing. Hoppy aroma of fruits, nectars, and spice. Mouthfeel is smooth, medium-bodied, and not harsh. Flavor of hops, malts, honey/honeycomb, and some citrus. My first Durango, CO beer and very good!

22oz waxed bottle. Pours a slightly hazy pale orange with a quarter inch head that falls quickly to a spoty cap and ring. The lacing is actually much thicker that I was expecting from the remaining fam. Smell; slightly fruity with pineapple and apricots and a light touch of honey. Some chalky yeast is present and it's a bit phenolic, especially as it gets warmer. Taste; the apricots and pineapple are just as evident in the flavor as they were in the aroma, but I think the honey is a bit stronger and adds just a bit more sweetness than I would really like. There's a bit of a peppery spiciness that fades quickly to the chalky yeasts and phenolic flavors, that end up making this a bit of a chore to finish. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, and a a little on the syrupy side, and the drinkability suffers because of it.

Poured in my Duvel glass. Hazy yellow-orange with a foamy white head. Lots of honey aroma. Spice and lemon are also there. To me this thing tastes like bad mead. Uncarbonated mead. Cloying. Yeasty. Lifeless palate. Bummer.

Poured a clear golden color with a small, white head that left spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of spices, coriander, some vegetal, citrus fruits, yeast, light vanilla, honey, and white pepper. Taste was spicy, citrus, lemon, honey, with yeast and alcohol in the finish. Rather thin mouthfeel.

22oz bottle (with yellow wax over the cap and neck of the bottle), picked up during a business trip in Colorado Springs CO. Sampled on a warm Wednesday night.
This is something I probably would normally pass by, to be honest. The cheesy label (two buxom blonde chicks hanging out with their motorcycles) doesn't really scream "classy brew" to me. But this highly recommended by the owner of Coaltrain Wine And Liquor, and I figured I'd give it a honest try.
While I really can't see how this is supposed to be a "dubbel" of sort, I guess with a bit of imagination you could call this a "Blonde Dubbel". Me? Definate Belgian Strong Pale Ale. Can you say Duvel?
This really does do an exacting and appreciative homage to King Duvel -- and that unto itself is no small feat. As many other brewers have learned through the years (both in Belgium, and abroad), it's no simple feat to get the alcoholic weight and the lightness in the body and appearence into the same beer -- yes, regardless if you happen to name it something similar to the word "devil".
This beer from Ska Brewing (why the Rastafarian-ish name, for a place from the middle of the USA?) doesn't try to name it's beer to pay homage to Duvel -- but it certianly brew's this beer along those lines. Appealing appearence, aroma, weighty alcoholic vibe, but not heavy or turgid in the flavor or mouthfeel profiles. Tasty overall drinkability.
A worthwhile beer, for a tasty domestic take on what Duvel has been doing for many years. An interesting beer from a brewery I'd never heard of a week or two ago. Recommended.
Music: Prong's "Prove You Wrong".

Pours from a 22 oz wax covered bottle an orange gold color. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet with a touch of apricots and peaches. A medium bodied Belgian style ale. Malts are fruity and sweet, with hints of apricots, peaches and pears. Spices seem to be pepper, ginger and the usual. Lively small-bubbled carbonation. Really dry and crisp finish, which is kind of surprising given all the sweetness. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
