This English Special Bitter is our “Special Ale.” Special because it is one of only a handful of canned microbrews in the nation. Special because the Galena hops and pale ale malts create a crisp first sip, a hoppy tongue, and a malty sweet finish. Though “bitter” is part of the name, “better” would be a more accurate term. Fresh and lively, this canned beer suits the needs of any outdoor enthusiast. Like it says on the can: Fish, Luau, Golf, Raft, Toboggan. Ska can!

no longer one of onlt a handful of canned microbrews...a decent example of a bitter, but not one that seperates itself from the crowd. very quaffable with a pleasant lite malty sweetness, caramel and tofee, and a slight floral hop kick.

It pours an amber/burnt-orange with thick white/light-orange head and decent lace. An aroma of caramel malts, light hops, pine, grapefruit, mango, and light spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of caramel malts, light hops, light grapefruit and citrus, bitterness, light mango, and spiciness. Good brew!

12 oz can. Pours a hazy golden orange with a creamy white head that retain fairly well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet corny caramel malts with some fruits and floral and metallic notes.

The flavor is sweet toasted caramel malts with some decent bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation, slightly watery.

Overall, a decent bitter with good balance of sweetness and bitterness. I don't normally care for the toasted/nutty notes but this one was better than I remember.

Pours pale copper with perfect clarity and small, sufficient head. Aroma is pleasant and balanced. The flavor is crisp and clean, gently bitter. Thin, medium body with appropriate carbonation.

Sampled from can. Pours clear copper with a creamy, light tan head and has remarkable lacing. Bread and caramel in the nose with some bright fruit notes. Balanced with toasted malt, caramel, dark fruit and peppery hop flavors. A bit of sweetness in the finish. Medium-full body. An enjoyable ESB - loved the fact that it was in the can as I bought it for an outdoor event.

Poured from a can. Nice lacing with a thin head that was heavier on the edges. Nice carmel color and a carmely with a hint of wheat. The aroma was malty with a fruit finish. Was expecting more hops but I'm good with this. Not to shabby.

"poppycock" .. . pours a nectarine juice, with great foams .. . nice aromas, caramel, pop, and pineapple skins .. . a good brew, but needs a WHOLE lot more, more like a mild english bitter with no class ...a bawdy little monkey!

Mine was not as bad as the first review infact it was quite good. Enjoyed at the brewery in Durnago Colorado listen to "Cross Canadian Ragweed." Aroma was faint malt. Poured a nice burnt sienna with lacing and a nice white head. A bit of stinging on the tounge with the mouthfeel. Bitter finish tha was nice with slighty sweet and malty tones.... Head lasted a long time....

Can from FBC, Flagstaff. The appearance was amber, ok head, decent lacing. The aroma was caramel and toffee, sticky aroma. The flavor followed the aroma, a total sticky caramel and tofee mess, some bittering hops in the finish, slight touch of grass. Mouthfeel was malty, caramel-ly, oily, icky. Again, SKA doesn't impress, too bad I nightcapped a run of Beaver Street's Pilsner, Stone's IPA,and Orval with this mess. If I wasn't driving, I'd have gone back and done something else, yikes!
