Bottle. Poured a amber brown colored beer with a one finger light beige foamy head that had a short retention. Some lacing. The aroma is roasted malts, hay, dark fruits, plums, nuts, notes of caramel. The flavour is sweet grainy malts, fruity and floral, violet. The palate is round and very smooth. This medium bodied beer has a lingering fruity and malty finish. A very pleasant and refreshing beer.

Fränken Bierausflug, Day#3, Brewery#9, Beer#19. Vom Faß at the Schroll Brewpub in the center of tiny Nankendorf. Everything about this place indicates that this is the real deal; the main reason for this trip. It is so heartening to find tiny breweries like this, in operation for over 150 years, tucked into the Franconian countryside. Unpretentious atmosphere and friendly people - this could be your grandmother serving us delightful home-brewed beer in her kitchen. The bier is light copper colored highlighted by a flurry of tiny bubbles and a large foamy off-white head; good retention and light lace mark the glasskrug. Aromas of grain as fresh as the surrounding newly-harvested farmland. Bright hops provide unassuming balance to the lightly roasted malt. The finish is long, bright and lively. Maybe not one of the world's greatest beers but, for this time and this place, absolutely perfect.

Bottled. Amber colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is malts, some mild grass and also slight notes of hay. Flavour is earth, slight roast, some grass and mild notes of rubber. Quite plasant though.
