I don't understand the Bad Rap that these standard type beers keep getting. It is akin to "I'd never shop at KAY_MART". This kind of silly, out-of-hand, class rejection is unfair.Just because this beer has been relegated to the cheap Domestic section of the beer Aisle does not make it automatically a crappy cheap beer- more a "corporate takeover" by distributors that are vieing for valuable display space. Consider for a moment that until superstores started to cary "Imports", Schlitz was one of our mainstay beers. It was the beer that many Football games were sponsored by, backyard bar-b-ques became livelier with, backseat dates lasted longer because of. I have seen brand loyalty move from honest american products(beers) to imports and then hybrids with nothing more to offer than a fancy label or catchy name- including inuendo[nude beer], and dopey [dead guy ale] names. It's like people dream up a funny name and invent a beer, any kind to affix the lable to- not generally, just in some cases. I agree with some of the people in this thread- Schlitz comes in at a "not bad beer"-to "fairly tasty!". When did "domestic beer" become a bad word?

Drank this one many years ago and still remember it as awful. I remember none of my buddies could Stand it either. If my memory serves me correctly. We took a case to a party and there were unfinished bottles left all over the place.

Hard to tell aroma and color as I am served this in a bottle. Some caramel and hop aroma, taste is sweet but hoppy. Short dry sweet aftertaste. (Houston 201208)

Pours a clear golden color with an inch thick head that dissipates quickly and leaves a nice lacing. The aroma is a very nice sweetness upfront, kind of lemony. Corn, grains, and pale malts come through as well. The taste is sweet with corn, pale malts, grains, and buttery biscuits. The mouthfeel has a medium body with mild carbonation. The carbonation gives it a creamy texture. This beer was best when brewed by schlits itself, not much of a changed under PBR but there is a drop off under Miller/Coors. My rating based off the latest brewery M/C.

Splitz! This beer is pure Milwalkee trash. This is horrible. Do not waste your time drinking this supermarket swill. It is a waste of time and money. Forget it. you will thank me!

It pours a pale yellow with a sudsy and foamy white head and some strings of lacing. An aroma of sweet malts, faint hops, light lemon, and some funk but not too bad. The mouthfeel is thin and watery. Flavors of corn malts, light hops, lemon, and again some funk. Altogether it is cheap, but not too bad. I like PBR better though.

It's as good as any Pabst I've ever had, and deffinitely a step up from Hamms and Strohs. The fact that you can only buy it in bottles is the only classy part of this beer. It's cheap and it's swill, go get some!

Same old, same old...as the other same old worn out versions of this overdone and watered down style of brew. Nothing special in flavor, compares to the Pabsts and Red White & Blues of yesteryear. Nostalgia is the only redeeming quality just like the others.

Not bad for a basic lager, plus it is good to see another retro label come back with some respectability. Aroma is average and nice, while appearance is a nice, clear light amber. Mouthfeel is decent, although the taste has an edge going out. Overall, an average, but respectable brew. On a historical note, I can still remember going to Milwaukee Brewer games as a kid back in the early to mid '70's when the beer vendors walked the aisles of County Stadium shouting "Cold Schlitz! Cold Shlitz!" Of course by then, the formulation was probably altered and things were headed down hill for once giant in the industry. It's sad, but, again, it's good to see the namesake back with some respectability.

I actually picked up a case of this because it was so cheap; $11.59 for a caser! Anyway, typical North American swill here and is similar to Milwaukee's Best light and others in that category. This is a watery brew but does offer some corm malt and sweetness and has high poundibility for sure. I might actually buy this again given the fact it is even cheaper than some of my favorite swills I drink. Recommended brew if you just want to swill and drink and don't think; very unchallenging brew here but not bad.
