2004 Hops in the City festival beer. Fruity, spicy, aromas and flavors contribute to the complexity of this Belgian ale. Medium body and effervescence contribute to a light, dry impression, despite its substantial strength and sweet, smooth finish.

This poured a golden color with a white carbonated head. The aroma contains some citrus, spices, and herbal notes. The flavor is rather sour with more citrus, bananas, ginger, and spices. The mouthfeel is very carbonated. Overall this is not sweet at all, more dry and funky than anything. A good beer!

A cross between a Saison and Tripel with some extra goodness tossed in. Elegant champagne like pour with high carbonation and tight bubbles forming a billowing head atop of a sparkling golden body. Light citrus, mild banana and lemon zest with biscuits, honey, clove and peppery spice. Surprisingly creamy mouth feel. Wonderfully crafted.

Sampled from bottle. Pours clear copper with a creamy white head and sheets of lacing. Peppery, fruity aroma. Balanced with tart, dark fruit, spice from the Belgian yeast and lightly toasted malt flavor. Effervescent. Very easy to drink. Worth trying.

Pours cloudy amber with tall, airy head. The aroma is spicy with herbal, hoppy notes. The flavor begins with a grainy base and some light wheat character and finishes with a clean, gentle sourness. Medium bodied with effervescent carbonation.

I haven't reviewed this yet? Weird... Well the barnyard character hadn't really developed when I sampled it, but it was still a funky belgian for sure. Last year's was quite boozy, but the '05 edition was much more subtle and balanced, slightly velvety mouthfeel and deep golden color with a finish that at times seeems a bit too dry.

05 hop in the city in KC. Clear straw color with no visable carbonation. Very spicey with some barnyard notes. Spicy horsey citrusy flavors. Lots of yeast chracter. Apparently it aged very well.
