We are excited to announce our latest year round- Schell’s Emerald Rye! Schell’s Emerald Rye is assertively hopped (hopped again, and again, and again, and then dry hopped) to impart a firm, dry bitterness and features the uniquely fruity, hoppy aroma of the German Emerald hop. With 60 IBU’s this lager rivals that of an IPA, but unlike an IPA we lagered it, giving this beer a crisp, smooth, clean finish on your palate. A biscuity malt foundation gives it balance and a luxurious, deep ruby color. A hint of rye enhances the subtle spiciness of the Emerald hop and complements the delicate notes of lemon and orange marmalade within the aroma. The rye also adds a layer of spicy complexity that leaves you wanting more. Schell’s Emerald Rye-a distinctly hoppy lager from the August Schell Brewing Company, Minnesota’s original craft brewer. Stats: IBU's: 60 ABV: 6.2% Malts: Rye, 2-Row, Vienna, Caramunich, Carvienne, Victory, Carapils Hops: Smaragd (German for Emerald), Opal, Tettnang Release Date: July 17th, 2012 Distribution: Minnesota. 7 State distribution coming soon.

Pours a slightly dark amber with a one finger head that goes away fairly slow. Lightly carbonated. Has a slightly dry aroma to it with hints of the rye, malts, and slight spice. Taste is slightly metallic at first but subsides. Hints of dry malts, rye, and a decent spice note. Finishes off fairly dry. A bit of a move up for this brewer. Not half bad.

A lightly hopped and grassy nose, some stale notes but not overpowering. Looks really good, clear amber, rich white head that hangs around. Flavor has a nice hop presence but its kind of a jumbled mess after that. Not really one to seek out.

Clear amber pour with a light tan head. Light, grassy, floral hops are evident but stay in the background while the rye and toasted malts take the lead. Crisp and refreshing with a light bitterness lingering in the finish.

A rich deep brown brew with some copper at the edges. The thin light khaki head tops the pretty brew. The nose has some rich notes of caramel and little bit of rye spice. There is also some hint of a spice like cinnamon. Toffee and black tea are the dominant flavors. Cinnamon and rye in the spicy finish. Bits of dry wood come through in the aftertaste. Some tobacco notes come through as it gets warmer. A nice spicy winter warmer.
