The second brew to appear in our 'Seven Natural Wonders of the Beer World' series is the Grand Canyon Pumpkin Bock - a 7% alc. / vol. strong beer. Deep in the shadows of the Grand Canyon sits a scandal buried for centuries. While many believe it was the Anasazi tribe who settled there first, a tale lives that tells otherwise. Who was it that truly came to first inhabit the caves of this dusty Southwestern crater? Rumor has it there was once an Egyptian settlement in the depths of the canyon, a scandalous discovery made by explorers at the turn of the 20th century that has been covered up by historians for the last century. To illuminate the myth behind the caves, we’ve unearthed a rich pumpkin bock and added a touch of blue agave for sweetness just in time for the changing seasons. But be warned: this brew will only be around as long as the fall itself, so enjoy this specialty brew before it’s nothing less than a legend. Tasting Notes Brewed using pumpkin from the first mash, two-row and crystal malts, traditional hallertau hops, a specialty yeast, a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon and sweetened with organic blue agave syrup, the Grand Canyon Pumpkin Bock is a creamy malt-forward beer accented by hints of the spices. Slow roasted poultry and root vegetables make an ideal pairing for this dark golden beer as they highlight subtle notes. Oh, and don’t skip on the pumpkin pie.
