Handcrafted at Melbourn Bros’ tiny brewery set in a time warp in Stamford using the old manually operated brewing equipment. finest organically grown barley and wheat are used to create a complex ale which having undergone primary and secondary fermentation with different yeasts and extended maturation, is taken to Samuel Smith’s small, independent British brewery at Tadcaster. There it is blended with pure organic apricot fruit juice and a previously cellared organic brew - creating an unparalleled fruit ale. The smooth distinctive character of the matured ale serves as the perfect counterpoint to the pure organic fruit juice.

355 ml bottle, ABV 5.1%, at Robert Raikes’ House (a Samuel Smith pub), Gloucester. Served ice cold. Golden colour, moderate white head. Distinct aroma of apricots. The flavour is medium sweet, not cloying, with distinct apricots throughout. Low bitterness.

Pours a clear, slightly golden yellow with a thick and rather persistent ivory head. Apricot overtone reaches out and touches you from a fair distance. Though quite strong and sweet, it lets through a peep of malt. Flavor is quite fruity, almost more cider or wine (Apricot cider or wine? I suppose it’s doable) than beer; however, the malty undertone reminds you what sort of potent potable this is. Heavy texture has some good beery fizz. Apricot in liquid form. If you love apricots, here’s a brew for you.

Pours a pale golden-yellow colour with a frothy white fizzy head that lasts longer than I expected. The smell is not awesome. Kind of fermented fruit gone bad. Tried looking for the best before date on neck as the label says, but only written SD15N1 - yeah, that really helps me out !! The taste seems better, as in not infected, with the sweet fruit juices of apricots. Unfortunately, there is some rusty flavours to it. Hints of bananas are kind of helping this cause. Thankfully just bought one (and yes I like fruit beers and Samuel Smith brews).

The beer pours a slightly hazed honey gold colour with a very thin white ring for a cap. The aroma is apricots, grains, and a funky yeasty note. The mouthfeel was light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was apricot and grass, with a hint of tartness. Best beer of the weekend. -

pours an opaque apricot juice colour, the head poured out a small white foamy bubbles settling down to thin slip, with even a little lacing. The aroma is exactly like a fresh cut apricot, sweet and fruity with a little tartness. Subtle notes of yeast, but the primary aroma is apricots. Some very faint muskiness. The taste is sweet apricots, with some breads, and a chaser of yeast. The flavour is of true apricots, not artificial flavours with just a little hint of melon muskiness. The mouthfeel is very pleasant and light to medium bodied, overall very refreshing.

Lightly hazed burnt peach color, tight white head, good lacing. Very nice fresh apricot aroma, sweet and fruity, wet sweet malts, slight hops to offset. Big apricot and peachy flavor, nicely sweet with a touch of tart, malty and a hint of earthy hops, must mostly apricots and peaches. Very nice fruit beer, very refreshing.

another well made fruit beer by Sam Smiths (i also liked the cherry and raspberry). the aroma is wonderful...more juice than beerlike, but just exploding with fresh apricot and a slightly tart aroma. body is fuller than expected, as is the look (no-seein through color of apricot juice). the flavor is nice...almost too much fruit, pretty sweet with a hint of tartness and hops and wheat. i wish these were not a couple bucks more than SSmiths regular stuff, but i may revisit the three...this is good. a touch less sweet and a bit more sour and this could be frikkin incredible.

Sampled on 4/11/2012. This fruit beer pours a hazy apricot color from a 500ml bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is apricot, fruity, malty and sweet. A medium bodied fruit beer. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are earthy. A very nice apricot beer. The apricot flavors are semi-sweet and very natural tasting, it tastes just like a perfectly ripe apricot, neither too sweet nor too tart. Nice soft carbonation. Lower ABV could make this a good session ale, but I am not sure just how many of these I would want to drink in one sitting. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
