Samuel Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA is the newest addition to the Rebel family of IPAs, which are brewed to showcase a wide range of hop intensities and characteristics. Rebel Grapefruit is brewed with real grapefruit for a big punch of citrus that amplifies the tropical fruit and citrus notes of one of the Sam Adams brewers’ favorite West Coast hops, Mosaic.

Decent looking beer. Hazy yellow/orange pour with a thin white head that leaves globs of lacing. Aroma and flavour are mostly grapefruit. Straight forward but enjoyable ipa with a bitter finish.

Pours bubbly, slightly hazy amber with a thick though not long-lasting eggshell head. Grapefruit and resiny hops battle it out for the dominant note in the tempting aroma, while fresh malt and a bit of yeast patiently sit in the background. Flavor presents firm tones of sweetish grapefruit, resiny and slightly bitter hops and fresh malt, accompanied by subtle yeasty and assorted fruit notes. Mouthfeel offers decent body and good fizz. OK, now where [hic] did I X [hic] my Park-Wing? :D

Part of their Pack of Rebels 12-pack of cans in Vermont. Pours a hazy golden-orange colour with a foamy beige head and decent lacing. Grapefruit nose with some grassiness over the caramel malts. The taste is more of the zest from the fruit with some nice grain in the background. Good bitterness and dryness. Quite a nice IPA with the typical grapefruit notes, not a grapefruit fruit beer.

Clear orange, small off-white lacing foam ring. Grapefruit aroma and taste, next to a real bitter IPA taste. INteresting combination, but grapefruit is too much. (Houston 201605)

It's been about a year or more since I sampled the regular rebel IPA, so trying to compare. This may have a slightly better flavor with the added bitterness and citrus from the grapefruit. Takes away from some of that West Coast style though, and replaces with a more tropical flavor. This is actually one of the better IPAs that Sammy has produced, but still has that mass produced feel.

This was a REALLY good beer. That's the thing about Boston Beer Company - it's always good. This beer is no exception. Lots of grapefruit in the aroma and flavor. A nice orange hue - very good beer.
