Old Fezziwig Ale is in the tradition of special seasoned beers for the winter Holidays, and takes its name from the festive character in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." This is a hearty, rich brownish-red ale that gets its character fromlarge amounts of specialty malts. These roasted caramel and chocolate malts give it a very full body and a smooth taste that's then spiced with a touch of cinnamon, ginger and orange. Happy Holidays!

Bottle: Poured a brown with an off white head. Aroma is spicy and roasted malt. The taste is sweet with roasted caramel malt and light hints of chocolate. I also got some mouth warming woodsiness to this as well.

Courtesy of Quake1028. Pours a very nice clear deep amber with off white head and solid sheet lacing. The aroma is pretty darn fruity with raisins and dates as well as malt sweetness and vague spice. The taste is also fruity up front along with a distracting cream soda note. Then it becomes thin before the vague spiciness enters along with mild caramel and malt roastiness.

Smells a little yeasty. Pours transparent dark in my steeler stein with a film on top. Flavor like old fezzy dropped his wig in there when they brewed it, seriously! Could not detect any chocolate hints. Veggy finish with a medium lasting bitterness. Only slightly better than sammy’s cranberry lambic and that is not saying much.

One of my Christmas beers this year. Better than I was expecting. Malty aroma with some cinnamon and spice. Medium-light body. Finishes dry with christmassy spices. Toffee and caramel come out as it warms. A well balanced beer. We'll see how I feel about it as I drink it again another day.

Pours clear chestnut with a thick, though not too persistent, eggshell head. Aroma has woody and spice hints, a little malt, not strong but promising. Flavor features firm toasted malt, woody, cinnamon, toffee, chocolate, and subtle citrus tones. Mouthfeel features typical body but some good fizz. Enjoy.

Pours out brown with a thick lingering foamy head. The aroma is of light clove and spice. The mouthfeel is just average. The taste is of roast malt and mild coffee. It's sort of a cross of the Holiday Porter and Winter Larger.

12 oz bottle . Reddish-brown hue with mostly diminishing light brown fizzy head. Good lacing. Dark malt, chocolate, orange citrus hop, spice and sweet floral aromas. Malt taste up front with a strange orange citrus hop and spice finish. When it warmed it had almost a peachy finish. Fizzy carbonation on the palate.

Not all that rich and unique as the product description lead me to believe. A spiced beer for the holidays that drinks a bit thin and really doesn't have the malt background to carry it.

OK this one was a doozy. It was spiced in all the wrong places. I like the intent and after one the second went down smooth. The festive brews always scare me as I don't like too much "spice" in my brew. I must say iot does go well with turkey and stuffing. No one else would try this. There were nice notes of floral, and then a hoppy note as well. In the mouth the malts were present but it was more like drinking a SN then a SA.

Part of their "Winter Favorites" 12-pack for winter 2013-14, with the first time seeing their gold labels. Cola-looking with a frothy beige head, good retention and creamy-soapy lacing. Mild aromas of caramel and darker malts with hints of spices (cloves, cinnamon). The cinnamon appears a little stronger in the taste, but not much else. Maybe a little roasted malt in the aftertaste, but overall, a little too filtered.
