Created by Rodney Kibzey, Illinois Rodney describes his wonderfully complex brew as "deep amber in color with a creamy body and a dark fruit and clove aroma." This traditional Bavarian style brew took Rodney a few batches to perfect, but the taste is worth all of his hard work.

Purchased as a single from a local deli. Pours a deep amber/brown with a larger than life head - take your time on the pour or get a big glass. Moderate lacing. Strong clove aroma with banana - a treat. sweet malts abound on the pallette. Nice all around.

This beer poured a clear and dark amber color with a tall head with great retention and awesome lacing. It had a very sweeet wheat aroma with a malt backdrop. Full bodied and had a dry malty flavor with notes of raisin and caramel.

A murky brown appearance with a beige head. The aroma contains some sour grapes, chocolate, raisins, and nutmeg. The flavor is a little bit sour with some grapes, lemons, chocolate, caramel, and brown sugar. A bready presence in this one as well. Overall this was a good beer!

Pours cloudy, almost opaque, brown with short, creamy head. Aroma is strong with clove, wheat and an overall sweetness. The flavor combines a sugary, grainy base (with wheat, of course) against floral-spiciness. Overall, I really disliked the cloyingly sweet flavor. I am passionate about beer and therefore, very rarely use a mean word like "dislike" in my reviews. I have no idea what Sam Adams was thinking, but this beer is no winner. Enough said.

Sampled from bottle. Pours hazy brown with a tall creamy tan head. Bubblegum and strong clove dominate the aroma. Balanced. The yeast pehenols totally eclipse whatever else might be going on with the flavor. Medium-light bodied and gassy.

Pours a dark brown with banana and clove aroma, smaller head that disappears fairly quickly. Tastes of bananas and sweet malt. Would give this one another try but from the reviews, not looking forward to the other longshot--grape pale ale.

This was the second of this season's Samuel Adams "Long Shot" beers that I tried. The Grape Pale Ale was absolutely a bomb in my book, so it was only up from there with this Weizenbock. This one was heck of a lot more enjoyable.
The pour was pretty nice. It was a dark brown beer that was a tad bit on the murky side. The head was fairly nice but quickly went away after a minute or two. The aroma was that of sweetness and cloves. You could defintely smell the cloves in this one as that was the main scent.
Flavorwise, I thought it was a pretty enjoyable drink as it started off sweet with hints of banana bread and cloves mixed in. This is one of those beers that I would probably like to see as a regular option from Samuel Adams. I'd especially like to see how this one ages.
Overall, I recommend it, but it comes at a price. With the Long Shot 6-pack checking in at like $7.99 and the Grape Pale Ale being absolutely worthless, you're paying close to $2.66 a bottle. In my book that's a little on the steep side for this one, but you'll just have to check it out and see if it's worth your coin. -

Great one from the LongShot series. Murky amber-brown pour with a large tan head that settles to an inch in thickness. Splotchy lacing around the glass. An abundant aroma of wheat, raisins, brown sugar, banana and clove. Smells wonderful, very rich and inviting. Sweet and creamy on the palate, medium bodied and drinks with ease. Great flavor that is spot on with the respective style. Banana and figs mixed with some subtle dark fruits. Sweet brown sugar and dry wheat malt. Spicy clove and anise flavors round out the wonderful flavor. Well made, a great beer to be had.

This weizen bock pours a somewhat cloudy brown color form a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized beige foamy head, with quickly dissipating lacing. Aroma is malty and fruity, lots of caramel and sweetness with a touch of banana and clove. A medium bodied weizen bock. The malts are caramel and dark fruit, with more than a hint of banana and clove. Yet, there is still some wheatness to it. The hops are kind of mild, but floral. Nicely balanced with good carbonation. There is also a hint of smoke and nuttiness. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
