In the great beer producing country of Belgium, some brewers have made it a tradition to give their beers an unusual name. Sometimes the name is curious, now and then it is diabolical and other times it is just plain silly. Damnation is our brewmaster's interpretation of a Belgian style Strong Golden Ale. It has extraordinary aromas of banana and pear with mouth filling flavors of sweet malt and earthy hops. The lingering finish is dry and slightly bitter but very, very smooth. Silver Medal, 2004 GABF (Belgian Style Ale Category) Silver Medal, 2001 GABF (Belgian Style Ale Category) Gold Medal, 1999 GABF (Belgian Style Ale Category) Available Year Round in the pub, for distribution, and in 750mL cork finished bottles.

Batch 052212. Glorious pop! Soapy head, nice lacing, pale gold in a glass. Immediate aroma, lots of yeast. Wow. Nice spice. Cloying, almost banana, nice hop profile. Prolific! One of the best American Belgian ales I've had. Dry, mouth-watering flavour that lasts for minutes. Great>

Pours a beautiful hazy golden with a nice ivory head. Sharp aroma is fruity and malty, very tempting, with notes of pear, apple and raisin. Fruity flavor echoes the pear, raisin and apple of the aroma and adds a pleasing malty undertone. Firm, fizzy texture is fairly smooth and satisfying. Damned good!

Great big Belgian aroma, a great one to keep smelling to uncover all the well combined layers. A bit light and fizzy as it should be, flavor was right on for the style and also quite good but I found the nose to be the strongest characteristic.

Pours fuzzy dark yellow with a white head ringlet. Aroma is faint and grassy. Flavor is funk and pepper - quite nice. Very very good all around, love it.

I had this beer as part of a 14 beer sampler at the Russian River Brew Pub on 14 July 2011. This was a funky and bready beer. I liked this one a lot but not enough to buy a full glass. That being said, I wish I would've had the wherewithal to buy a bottle of this for aging.

Drinking this tonight from a bottle of batch 064 that I surprisingly found at the grocery store. Pours orange amber color with a large fizzy head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of candi sugar, clove, bubblegum, citrus and peppery spice. Full bodied with a prickly carbonation. Starts sweet and finishes dry. This is a pretty usual Abbey Tripel or Belgian Strong Ale style beer, but considering the part of the world it came from, that's impressive.

Pours a hazy, rich gold color. The head is quite creamy, but does not linger as long as you would expect. Strong sweet citrius, lightly spiced orange and corriander. Excellent drinker. Think fried chicken or pizza with this one. Finish is clean, with hints of cedar and earthy notes. Russian River has this one done right. If you are looking for lighter fare, this is a brew for you. Nice change from heavy hoppy IPA's and strong stouts.

This was the third of 4 Russian River beers I tried. This one was pretty good. A hazy golden beer that was reminiscent of a Belgian style tripel. There was malt, yeast, hops and spice in the nose and the flavour was just as complex with a sweet fruit tinge to it.

this one's a strong golden ale, not a dubble. it's more assertive than other RR belgians, and has a fuller feel. Spicy, yeasty, a little fruit, and warming. Not bad, but pales in comparison to RR's special brews.
