The brewer allows the beer to macerate with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries. After this maceration in oak, the beer re-ferments in the bottle. The result is RODENBACH Caractère Rouge, an exceptional RODENBACH with fruit maceration and a 7% alcohol volume. The brew is more than unique and extremely exclusive, as only 900 75-cl bottles were produced. Geunes serves this wilful beer as part of his other unique range of beer varieties in his restaurant, ’t Zilte, at the Antwerp MAS museum.

    750 ml "champagne" bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7%. Red colour, large pink head. Strong sourish-fruity aroma of ripe red berries (= cherries, raspberries and cranberries), also notes of oak and farmhouse. Lovely clean sour & fruity flavour with a strong presence of said berries, some sweetness but not too much. Refined and interesting, but still refreshing and easy drinking for its strength and age.

    Celebrating my birthday with this one. Pours a hazy caramel-amber colour with a light beige head that fizzes a lot leaving a little collar. Aromas of light sourness, apples, other fruits, caramel and hints of molasses. The taste is well-blended between the sour notes and fruitiness sweetness. Everything is so well-balanced. How is this even 7% ABV. it is so smooth. Another great product from this brewer.

    Gift from Tinus. Clear red, small red foam ring remining. Light sour aroma and likewise in taste, Cherry and wood notes. Complex, great beer. (Nijmegen 201604)

    One of the best smelling beers, sour or not, I've had in a loooooong time. You can pick out each fruit in there (raspberry, cranberry, cherry) and the oak and acidity is present enough to get your attention, but not so much it's a distraction. Right in the middle. Medium sour, nice feel...refreshing and super complex at the same time. I could have killed the 750 by myself in record time...
