Railroads catapulted Kansas City from a large Midwestern cowtown into a metropolitan city and major transportation hub. Born June 15, 1928, the Flying Crow was the premier passenger steam line for the Kansas City Southern Railway. The Flying Crow never set any land-speed records while operating between Kansas City and Port Arthur, Texas, but you never could find a train that was known personally by more people. In 1937, the Flying Crow succumbed to technology and was dieselized. It was eventually taken out of service May 11, 1968. A combination of black patent and chocolate malts provide the steam engine black color for our full-bodied porter. We add a special roasted malt and hallertauter hops to give this beer a dry, slightly roasted finish.

Best brew this brewery offers in my opinion, but still not outstanding. very dark in color, and thin head. very coffee tasting, but smooth to drink. this is what I ended up drinking most the night.
