Strong, hoppy and goes great with German Bratwurst or a warm pretzel.

Is this supposed to be simply a take on German styles in general or is it supposed to be an authentic attempt at a Marzen? It fails if the latter. A nice golden pour with some red highlghts, and a creamy white head that lasts. Aroma has more hops than a true marzen, and they compete unfavourably with the sweet malt. Flavour is the same for me, too hop forward for a true marzen instead of the malt being the star.

The beer pours a translucent orange-copper colour with a generous off-white head which doesn't last. Aroma is yeast, bread, caramel, light fruits, and weak floral hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied. The flavour is slightly acidic, weak caramel, sweet malt, and grains, -

Pours a large frothy off white head and has an amber coppery appearance. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas of malts, earthy and resin hops. Flavours are mainly malty, like bready and toasty. Some subtle hints of caramel in the mix and a bit sweet. A bit of hoppy bitterness comes through. Pretty good.

Single cans from the LCBO. Pours a clean amber colour with a frothy white head, good retention and nice creamy lacing. Mild caramel taste with some decent grassy hops, light alcohol and grain to blend things. Light aromas of caramel malts, brown sugars, spices, biscuit and bread yeast. Too bad the Cardigan is replaced by this one, but still good. Wish both were offered at this time next year.
