Georgia’s oldest operating craft brewery, Red Brick Brewing Company, and Max Lager’s Wood Fired Grill and Brewery will be pouring their newly released joint venture Atomic Frog at Max Lager’s this Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at 320 Peachtree St. NE in time for crowds of Dragon-con attendees and customers to enjoy. “We’re excited to be working with one of our favorite restaurants and breweries and supporting local business with a hoppy lager that has an outstanding flavor,” said Tyler Cates, marketing coordinator for Red Brick. “Atomic Frog’s hop notes of lime zest, mango, guava, and melon play well with the minerality of the lager yeast, and pairing that with bohemian pilsner and carahell malts make it a delicious beer that finishes dry and clocks in at eight percent ABV.

A bold golden colored beer with a big loosely held together sudsy textured white head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. A moderate ringlet, persistent cap and some low lying film are left. The nose is a dank vinegary. Lots of acerbic citric hops in the tasting. Sticky, oiled palate. But very drinkable.

Comes out of the growler clear amber with a thick and rather persistent pale cream head. Strong, hoppy aroma reaches out and touches you after a few seconds, demanding another sniff - and then do the hops hit you, while letting fruity and malty notes peek through. Flavor is, HOO HA, hoppy as an Atomic Frog! It is somewhat bitter, but not fiercely so; subtle fruit and malt partially balance the hops. Texture is fairly firm, not too fizzy; finish is seriously hoppy. Drag-on yourself to the nearest watering hole or growler store that has it on tap - before the cask croaks.
