One more than 20. Twenty plus one year. We're officially legal folks, and, dammit, we're celebrating! We figured the best way to honor a coming-of-age/milestone birthday is with this dark Saison beauty. It's a more mature style of beer, with a rich, dark chestnut color, spicy yeast aroma and notes of dark fruit and toasted marshmallow. Add an extended aging in South American rum barrels, which brings notes of woody vanilla from oak, caramel sweetness, and a complex rum character to the party, and you've got a 21st birthday worth remembering. Aroma: 10 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9
Pours opaque chocolate brown with a thick and fairly persistent buff head. Crisp, sharp aroma has a malty core and a strong fruity overtone, mainly pear plus apple and a firm caramel side-tone, plus a hint of rum-soaked wood. Malty, fruity flavor has a definite rum overtone, along with woody and caramel notes - and a strong alcohol bite even for 9.5 ABV. Firm, viscous texture has good fizz and leaves a woody rum and fruity finish. May Red Brick prosper for another 21 years. Hell, how about another 21 decades, minimum?

Pours our a very dark brown with a red hue and nice tan head. The aroma has a slight vinegar smell. The mouthfeel is supprising thick for a saison quite impressive. The taste is a balance between a Saison, Porter and a dark ale. Really quite impressive.

A dark reddish brown, nearly black in color with a big frothy textured tan head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. Nice lacing of thick film and ringlet. The sweetness of rum and dark fruit in the nose. The fruit notes seem to dominate in the taste. There's a slight warming from the alcohol. Slick bodied.
