THIS MARRIAGE OF AMARILLO HOPS to our favorite Porter recipe was initially devised on a very small scale, a mere 10.7 gallons to be exact. For this version we’ve tweaked our usual hop additions to build harmony between the smooth, caramel roast of the Porter and the floral and citrus character that comes from a substantial dry-hop addition

    Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

Aromas of citrus, slight floral hops, chocolate malts poke through just a bit. Usual porter deep brown/ black o.k. lace. Mouthfeel is a little thick for the style but i like it. Flavor centers around the hops throughout from the inital kick through the slightly bitter finish, the porter attributes come though in the middle with coffee and some chocolate, but not as much as i would have liked. I was excited to try this one, a bit of a let down. I was hopping for a porter with some background complimentary hops, and this is hop-centric, like a black ipa. Overall still a nice enough beer.
