Influenced by the classic Bamberg rauchbiers, our Mesquite Smoked Porter is brewed with a Texas twist, using malt smoked in-house over Texas mesquite. This dark mahogany porter has a velvety mouthfeel, and a roasty, dark chocolate flavor balanced with a subtle hop spice. The nose is warm and pleasing with aromas of cured meat, pepper, leather, dark roast coffee, and a distinct mesquite wood aroma. The Mesquite-Smoked Porter’s medium body, rich complex taste of roasted grains, coffee, dark chocolate, and meaty, smoky character make this perfect for any Texas day, be it the cold of winter, or the accompaniment to a summer barbecue. It pairs wonderfully with flourless chocolate cake, mousse, Texas barbecue, roasted and cured meats, earthy vegetables, and blue and smoked cheeses.

Beautiful porter, deep black body, with a thick killer cap, and some yeast floaters for good measure. Mouthfeel is standard for this style, but there is a sharp carbonation bite, and a bitter finish. Aromas of nice smoke, a tad medicinal but o.k., with some chocolate as well. However the aroma didnt translate into the flavor as much as i would like in the smoke or traditional porter flavors. This is a nice beer, in fact this would be great for those trying a smoke beer for the first or second time.

mmm, aroma is goood!! like sucking on the exhaust of an oil spewing Trabant.. . high roast level, lip smacking with oil notes, a touch of spicey smoke, tar and very light espresso .. nice balance .. smooth fun beer but as a smokehead- would have liked a more sweet smoke! .. but a great beer from this brand spanking new brewery!.. .
