Poured with a foamy tan head that had large bubbles and faded fairly quickly. The beer had excellent clarity and was a deep amber with some orange highlights. No lacing to be found.Aroma was all malt, some sweetness and a bit like crusty bread. Flavor of roasted malt, followed by a bread like or cracker flavor. Not much sweetness. A bit dry. Faded towards the end. Not very complex.Drinkable, but not very exciting.

Sampled on draft at the Old Monk, Dallas. I enjoyes three pints of this o-fest, so I gess I liked it! Pours mahogany with a small head which eventually faded to almost nothing. This happened on all three pints, so my guess is that the glass wasn't the issue. Mild, malty aroma with perhaps a hint of floral hops. The flavor is dominated by caramel malts instead of the bready, biscuity, and lightly toasted malt flavors you'd typically expect. I hope Rahr backs off the caramel malts next year and takes some inspiration from their bock's malt bill. The beer was a little sweet from the cara malts. Medium-full body and lightly carbonated. Perhaps some more carbonation would make it a tad more drinkable (just to lighten the perception of the heavy body for the style). An enjoyable drinker than just needs a few tweeks.
