2006 Gold Medalist at World Beer Championships (Chicago) 2007 Gold Medalist at World Beer Championships (Chicago) 2008 Gold Medalist at World Beer Championships (Chicago) Bitter was originally a draught ale served very fresh under no pressure (gravity or hand pump dispensing only) at cellar temperatures. Lucky for you today its available everywhere! Our ESB is a rich, full-bodied English-style bitter, brewed with carefully selected malts and hops. This copper coloured, English styled ale is our best seller. Smooth, Full bodied and All Natural, like all our beers. Our most popular brew is not really a bitter beer, it's a better Bitter! The beer poured a solid brown colour with a tan coloured head that laced. The aroma was sweet malt with a nut presence and some hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was sweet malt, dark fruit, and a hint of a bitter finish. A good beer - but not great.

Bottle. Colour - a beautiful clear rust colour with a half inch frothy cap, and decent lacing. Aroma - notes of caramel, roasted malt, light citrus, and grass. Mouthfeel - a little on the thin side but well carbonated. Flavour - sweet caramel malt tones up front abd a decent bitter hop finish in the back end.

Picked up a bottle from the brewery in Halifax. Pours a nice thick frothy brownish head and has a clear amber appearance. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas of light roasted malts, hints of caramel. Flavours are mainly toasty malts and earthy hops. A little bit of caramel hints and sweet malts. Has a bit of a woodsy faint burnt taste as well. Fairly smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Good balance between sweetness and bitterness.

Fantastic ESB/session beer. Super easy drinking, floral, citrus(mild), biscuit drynees. Very english in style with a quirky, but recognizeable american addition. Seems a touch dry/salty, the 'bitter' character that ESB's are intended to emulate. I give it just an average rating here, but |I have no doubt that at cellar temp gravity fed draft, this would be a real winner....

Hurenndace pour by me I got 8” of head and only 1” of beer. After I let this settle down I can see a dark brown body with a rocky tan cap floating on top. A very mild bitterness is noticeable in the aroma, some coffee, and a nice but out of place tangerine. Aroma comes across weak and empty. Mouth feel is watery and flat. taste is dominated by coffee with a pine hop presence in the back ground. TO MUCH COFFEE. There is a sweet fruit flavour but I can’t figure out what it is. This beer starting to irritate me I just tasted an ash tray. This is ok to just drink but when you sit back and think about it it’s just not that good. Marks seem a little too low.

Poured out a small bubbly cap with ring retention and spotty lacing, nice dark copper brew. Nose: nutty, roasted malts, faint floral and orange hops that come out as the beer warms. Comes across mostly toasted. The flavour is a good mix of citrus hops, roasted and biscuit malts. Are my senses off today? I'm finding this beer quite mild and nearing nondescript compared to what I think it should be like. Nice bitterness that would allow me to suck back a dozen of these no problem. Interesting bitter finish. Over carbonated but soft in the mouth. Pretty good but does not compare to the upper end English ESBs that I've had. Still a worth purchase though.

The saying is...when in Halifax............try a propeller. So...I tried a few. This is a reddish brown brew that looks alright. The aroma is coffee like with little hop presence for me. (Malt overpowering the hops). The hops do come through in the taste however as this is indeed is a better bitter!

A decent ESB with a nice apperance, attack and aftertaste. Nose is delicate and very nice body. Alot of maltiness and a nice taste. Very nice beer and good for a session.

Bottled. Deep reddish golden colour with mediumsized beigeish head. Aroma is fruity, honeyish, wooden, grassy and slightly caramelly. Flavour is mainly wooden, fruity and grassy with a quite bitter finish.

Classy orange and gold label with the large propeller blade in the middle. Pours a thick copper brown color, creamy tan head. Nice looking brew. Lots of hop aromas, as expected in an ESB. Have heard lots about this one, and the taste didn't disappoint. Great mix of sweet and bitter hops. Well carbonated, makes it creamy smooth. Very easy to drink. If it were available here, it would be a regular. I am probably a bit biased, but beer always tastes better when there is a story behind acquirng it. The anticipation and waiting for it to cross the country makes it taste even better.
