Our initial offering "Jack D'Or" is a simple table beer, or "Saison Americain" as we're referring to it. We are not trying to coin a beer style here – we’re just having fun. It’s the type of beer Martha and I like to drink before, after and during a great meal. Heck, we'll drink this sort of beer any time. BATCH NOTE: We've noticed after our test batch and now our first brewery batch, the oats give the beer a soft character, big marshmallow head and a slight lingering peachy sweetness.

A hazy golden colored beer with a big sudsy textured off white head rising above. There's some hang time on the head. A moderate ringlet and persistent cap are left. Earthy, grass and spices in the nose. More of the dame in the tasting. Light and smooth.

Unmistakingly saison. And a decent enough one, but no stand-out qualities good or bad. It's a hazy golden color with a thin wisp of a head. Flavor is grain with pepper.

Pretty Things, maybe just me but the name makes me envision a weird old lady on every label .. . hay, wheat, touch of spice, and a bit floral .. . a nice american example of a saison .. . . Yeah, told you I'd be a sweet Jesus, you guys.

Sampled on 4/30/2011. This saison pours a cloudy orange gold color from a 22 oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head with decent lacing. The aroma is citrus, floral, grainy, yeasty and a touch of pepper. A medium bodied saison. The malts are fruity, citrusy and floral. Some yeast and a touch of pepper. The hops are spicy and floral. Lively carbonation. A touch of funk. Very nice saison, extremely drinkable. A touch of yeast at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly spicy.

Jack D’Or Saison Cloudy pee colored, looks like a saison, got a wicked tiny bubbled head that after 30 min is still thick, 3-5 mm covering the whole beer and never disappearing. Good white pepper flavour, arugala, perhaps some dried basil. Perhaps a bit of old, dried up vinegar, in a really good way. It has a slight unfortunate skunkyness to it that I’m not a huge fan of, not sure how intended that it, but I have seen it in a number of saisons now. There is something germannic about it, perhaps a slight wheat/hef characteristic, definitely some green grass, and some sunshine. Touch of coriander and a drop of orange oils, but a definitive earthy beer. Appropriate dry hopping and good bitterness, ball park 40 IBU’s

Smells like warm sunshine in a bottle. Lots of fresh lemon mixed in with hay and dry wheat. Sturdy noble hop presence coupled by fruity yeast. A slight hint of sour funk in the aroma as well to really push it up a level. Pale copper borderline dark golden color, the body produces a foamy head along with a couple strands of lacing. Lighter in body with a good airy feel. A bitter hit that quickly fades to a dry maltiness. Orange lemon and maybe a touch of spruce in the fruity flavor. Mildly sour with plenty of dry, grainy wheat. Lot’s of yeast influence ties it all together.
