Monumental IPA is a rich copper color, and is intensely hoppy. We add a special blend of American hops throughout the brewing and fermentation process to create a complex combination of aroma and flavor. This ale exhibits floral notes, flavors of citrus and resin, combined with delicious caramel background notes. The balanced style will keep the palate fresh and invite the drinker back into the glass.

Pours clear, bubbly copper with a thick, if not long-lasting, buff head. Aroma offers malty and hoppy notes with a hint of fruit. Hops come forth more in the flavor, resiny and a little woody but scarcely bitter. Fresh malt and pear provide a nice support. Mouthfeel is fairly firm, if fizz leaves a little to be desired. If not monumental, certainly worth a fair shake.

Hazy orange with a smattering of foam, it smells floral and lemony with caramel and grapefruit, and these carry through to the flavor. More bitter than the pale ale, of course, but it still has good balance and support. Fresh, medium body, a little prickly but not overly harsh.

Poured gold and thick-looking, completely opaque with small, lasting head. Both aroma and flavor are surprisingly balanced for an IPA. Sure, there is sufficient hops (grapefruit and flowers) and bitterness to satisfy the style, but there is also a respectable malt presence. I happen to really enjoy beers like this--they make for easy drinking. Nice, medium body, amply carbonated but not a bit harsh. My bottle courtesy of the lovely mwiscount. Thank you Melanie! I'd love to have one on tap sometime.

I'm not a fan of hoppy, but I do like this beer. I enjoyed this beer while talking to the Port City brewmaster, Bill, so of course it tasted better! This has a lot of flavors and makes taste buds stand up at attention. I am trying to develop a taste for hops so I can fairly review hops beer. This was a good choice to develop my hoppy flair.

Last of the FoamDome DC area brews. This IPA pours a clear amber with a nice almost-white head and bits of lacing throughout. A tad over-carbonated. Pleasant East-Coast IPA aromas of floral hops, some earthy pine and citrus, generous caramel malts. Taste mimics the aroma with a nice but not overpowering hops quality, some pine, some grapefruit, pleasantly earthy, and a very good dose of caramel maltiness to offset and balance the hops bitter. Not a huge IPA, not a prolonged bitter linger, but a straight up good IPA. Nice one Dave, thanks!

Draught, tasting. Pours copper, nice slightly hopped mouthfeel and a bit of sweet in the back. Neat floral and hop tones in the aroma. Flavor has meets expectation and finishes quite clean. Very nice, looking forward to more.
