This one is dedicated to everyone who has gotten up at the butt crack of dawn, headed towards the shores and found it 4-6 feet and offshore only to find 30 of your "buddies" have already claimed the peak. As you paddle out, a swell arrives from nowhere signaling your turn to go. The surf Gods are shinning on you today. You turn, stroke like mad for the wave. Standing up you are alone and blammo you Wipeout....blowing the only chance of a right hander all to yourself. You know who you are. We've all been there too. It's inside each and every one of us. Welcome to the waters of Wipeout IPA, a massively hopped India Pale Ale with enough substance and body to overcome even the worst and most tragic of on the water spills. We brew Wipeout IPA for everyone- especially those hardy souls who brave the cold winter water and monster sets produced by an amazing northwest swell. Only a tidal wave of hops can overcome the surging tide of malt that is required to produce a beer of this shape. We invite you to drop in, hang on and kick out the backside. That is, unless you enjoy wiping out and all the glory that goes with it. Bottle, shared by my beerpal Olav (bought at the brewery). ABV is 7.0%. Deep golden to orange colour, large white head. Nice aroma of American hops, strong notes of spruce. Very hoppy and bitter flavour. Some sweetness, but the bitterness is still overwhelming. Not Port Brewing’s best.

Pale hazy gold color makes it look like they didn't work too hard on appearances. Fruity citrus hop nose with a similar taste and a little astringent at the end. Overall it is tasty so who cares what it looks like. The finish is a bit light/watery and lacks that mouth puckering quality that most IPAs have.

Pours a hazy honey golden with a fairly thick cream-white head that dissipates after a short time but leaves behind some good lacing. Aroma is woody and yeasty with an evergreen hint. Flavor is hoppy and woody, minimally bitter, with an undertone of sour orange and some woody and honey-sweet hints. Texture is rough and fizzy, leaving behind a nice hoppy tingle. I recommend this one to IPA fans.

Another IPA that doesn't thrill me. No haze which is rare for a west coast IPA, and a little darker in colour. Aroma is hoppy, lots of citrus, but lacks in the malt area. Flavour is unbalanced as well.

It pours a light burnt-orange with thick white-orange head and substantial/copious lacing. An aroma of sweet malts, hops, oranges/citrus, light peach, and some spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, grapefruit, pine, light peach, and spiciness. Good brew!

    August 26, 2010
I tried this beer on August 26, 2010 at "The Beerbistro" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a translucent reddish gold colour with a foamy white head. The aroma was pine, grapefruit, and biscuity malt. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was citrusy hops, grainy malt, and some caramel.

Honey brown with a large nipple cap. Aroma is of very sweet malts and lemon lime hops. Sweet hoppy flavor but the flavor seems held back. Woody malts and tons of lemon lime hops is pretty much all there is to this brew. Very good drinking beer but it was nothing special and I will most likely forget that I drank in a week or two.

Apr 2009 - Beer pours a dirty straw color with a fluffy head and some lacing. A seriously citrusy aroma forebodes a mouth puckering hoppy experience. Sure enough, this one qualifies as a hop bomb, no doubt, enough to satisfy those who like to drink paint stripper right from the can. The mixture of 5 hops blended into a single citrusy taste that was somewhere between a grapefruit and a pine cone. A simple beer with not a lot of malt backbone. Enjoyable, but not really worth the $9.69 I had to pay for a bomber of this in PA.

I enjoyed this brew. Massive grapefruit notes with some pine on the nose. Golden hue to it with a good medium white head that lasted a bit. Crisp carbonation and a medium body that finished smooth. Nice Tasting IPA.. Quite fruity and crisp.. There was a bitter finish I did not like to much but over all I dug it
