A thick and dark Baltic Porter that we have enhanced with some extra strength and roasted darkness, making it a crossover between a Baltic Porter and an Imperial Stout. Pale ale, Munich, CaraGold, Carafa II, Chocolate and Belgian Special B malts were used making this brew, and it was hopped with Northern Brewer. The nose is burnt oak, coffee, vanilla, liquorice, raisins and a warm alcohol note. The palate contains sweetness and bitterness in a nice balance – the bitterness coming mostly from the roasted malts. There are also hints of smoke, chocolate and dried black plums present.

330 ml bottle, as Põhjala ÖÖ Imperial Baltic Porter. ABV is 10.5%. Pitch black colour, moderate brown head. The aroma has notes of roast malts, caramel, dark chocolate, molasses. Fairly sweet and rich flavour, with the same elements as in the aroma, also notes of liquorice, sweetened coffee and bittering hops. Pretty impressive.

Pours coffee sable with a thick tan head that leaves fair lacing. Aroma features coffee, roast malt, and subtle chocolate and molasses notes. Flavor presents roast malt, coffee, chocolate, hints of molasses and caramel. This drinks more stout than porter. Mouthfeel delivers thick, viscous body though light fizz. This will get you through a chilly night.

Really nice dark color, not too deep, but really nightlike (name of the beer in english is night), top is a bit of dissapointment, since there is not so big top and it dissapears rather fast. Aroma is really nice having some hints to coffee, cookies and fruits. Taste is round and heating but somehow lacks a bit of character. Everything is there, but all the flavours are standing in the background and nothing comes out specifically. Aftertaste is smooth caramelish nad a bit fruity with nice warmness going down your throat. Since this is one of the first bees from this brewery then I have to admit that really good job. Keep up the good work!
