A very solid brew. Coal black but held to the light reveals a chestnut heart. No head and light carbonation. Big malty body but not exceedingly heavy. Sweetness is bordering on being to much but a nice bitterness in the finish helps it from crossing that line imo.

Dark amber color. Small head. Aroma is malty and sweet. A full-bodied dopplebock. Malts are very sweet, very malty and fruity. A slight hop dryness. The malts really dominate this beer. VERY Smooth. There are touch of brown sugar, molasses and cherries. The only trace of alcohol (8%) comes from the a touch of oiliness in the finish. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Finish is slightly bitter.

My wife surprised me by saying that there was a store she wanted to visit down in Carlsbad, and asked if I wanted to come w/ her. I suggested that we have lunch at Pizza Port before going to the store (she hadn't been to the Carlsbad location, home of the festivals). She agreed. This doppelbock is a clear chestnut color w/ very little head.It was nice and sweet and very enjoyable.

a purple influenced woodish color. Has a definite Rye flavor dominating the aroma. Big malt taste that kinda has the feel of seven grain bread. I can dig this one.

Dark as night with a smallish tan head. Sticky sweet malt aroma. Tastes of dried fruits, caramel and bitter chocolate. Smooth with a nice bitter bite.

This dopplebock pours with a deep, deep amber brown/mohagony body topped by a thin head wtih little lacing. The aroma is sweet, fruity and malty with a fair amount of hoppiness. The flavo ris sweet, fruity and malty with a surprising bitter hoppiness. Full bodied and smooth.
