In this epic battle, the Blood of the Unicorn has been shed by the sword of the deadly assassin of the east. One sip of this aggressively hopped red ale clearly reveals what drives these, the greatest of, hop heads of lore. Is this the end of the mythical horned horse? Or will he rise like the phoenix to fight another day?

Pours clear sepia with a thick and lasting buff head. Aroma presents resiny and slightly woody hops, crisp fresh malt, zesty and slightly sweet citrus. Flavor delivers piney hops, fresh malt, caramel and citrus notes. Texture offers fair body and peppy fizz. Happy New Year - let's hope things improve in 2022 of the Common Era!

16 oz can. Pours reddish amber with a big off white meringue head that retains well and laces the glass some.
The aroma is sweet caramel malts with lots of fruity resiny piney dank hops.
The flavor is sweet nutty caramel malt with lots of fruity resiny piney hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, a very nice hoppy red. -

Pours a clear, reddish amber/copper color with a sudsy one finger head. Minimal lacing. Spicy rye, pineapple, lemon and dank, piney hops on the nose. Citrus dominates the taste, lots of lemon pith, some pine shows up near the end, only to be overshadowed by a bitter, almost mouth puckering ending (all good, though). I'd be curious to what the IBU's are on this beast. Big fan of Red Ales (rye infused) and this one is sort of a hybrid with an IPA profile that one one usually find with a double IPA. Good stuff. Pipeworks has stepped up their game of late. Can't wait to see what their next release is. Recommended.
