Before I knew much about beers, I used to buy these from the government liquor store, and enjoy them. Guess I had potential. Pretty yeasty, Belgiany, sweet. Nice head, soapy lacing. Clear, caramel colour. Not much aroma, but easy drinking. A bit sweet.

It pours a dark orange & cola with a thick and foamy tan head and copious lacing. A sweet aroma of roasted malts, cola, coffee, chocolate, oranges and citrus, Riesen, raisins and dates, and mild spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth and rich. Flavors of roasted malts, coffee, cola, Riesen, oranges and citrus, raisins and dates, light bitterness, and mild spiciness. Excellent ..

Drank quickly and cold under whitecroft falls earlier today at high flow in the sping. Quite beautiful admist the cliffs and the wet cedar forest. Standard dubbel I think, would not hold up to aging. All the regulars, clove, brown sugar, raisins, plums, yeast, and a tich of white pepper. (Two tichs make a tad). Some bananna when it warms. Good, not great.

Petrus Dubbel. I've had it yesterday from the tap and it was great. I like dubbel beers a lot and this is one I haven't tasted before. The head is big and sturdy, the aroma has lot of things going on in it. Hints of yeast, raisins and do I smell a wee bit of chocolate in the background? Aroma was promising, let's go taste. Flavour lives up to the aroma. Full bodied, well balanced. The yeast disappears and makes way for autumn fruit like chessnuts and vigs. And than the appearance. Look at that glass filled with the dark red brownish liquid. This is keeper.

330 ml thin brown bottle. Poured a dark mahogany brown color, reddish-orange hilights when held to the light. Big bubbly head that rose up quickly, then gone just as fast. Aroma has lots of fruit, raisin, currants, plum. Also some caramel sweetness, followed up with some alcohol. Taste is rich and complex. Sugary sweet, dark fruits, with a tart end. Warming alcohol with an oak barrel like finish. Mouthfeel is medium, maybe lighter expected from the smell. Low or no carbonation make it smooth and creamy. Warms nicely on a chilly evening.

Dark reddish brown body with a long lasting beige head. Loads of thick sticky lacing is coating my glass. Aroma is slightly disappointing it is mild, slightly sour and metallic. However the flavor is rich and smooth, very chocolaty, sweet, and creamy. I have to agree with the people here and say a brown sugar flavor is very strong. Mouth feel is a touch thin form me. Very good beer, high quality, and easy drinking.

Been awhile since I've had an Abbey Dubbel... yumyum!
Poured out a nice sized light brown cap with pretty good retention and slippery, ropy lacing. I keep forgetting to hit up the aroma cause I'm too busy chugging this. Warm caramel malts, plums, brown sugar... ahhhh not bad at all. The taste loses its early greatness at some point and I recommend not to let this over-warm. Very heavy on the malts with caramel dominating, almost burnt sugar, very sweet, an apparently totally random mix of fruits, odd hop taste. Really smooth beer teeters on slickness but still in a good way. Full bodied. Malts throughout, slight spice piggybacks that. FInishes sweet with a quick fading bitterness and leaves a brown sugar aftertaste. I like. -
