ST NIKOLAUS BOCK BREWER’S RESERVE A compelling argument for a bigger stocking! It’s the last of Penn Brewery’s Small Batch Brews for 2007. Packaged in a twenty-five ounce bottle with a decorative foil neck and festive velvet embroidered bag, it’s one more present to look forward to this time of year.

alcohol not noticeable at all. easy drinking. I am an IPA kind of guy, but I have bought this beer many times. The reserve is a little hoppier than the year round bock and a little higher alcohol at 8%. Some hops if the think about them real hard. Nice malt, but not overpowering like some of the bocks and other darker porters and such.

Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Lacing is decent. Malty aroma, flavor is slightly spicy with some sweet overtones and a bit of alcohol bite. I prefer this to the standard edition!

Like the regular Penn's St. Nick, only smoother in texture on the buds, with a wee bit more hop character, and more assertive spice and malt notes. Bold and beautiful, this baby was used to cap off the Holiday Season on New Year's Eve. I hope there is another Brewer Reserve for 2008!
