A beer of the month club entry for March/April 2011. Pours a fairly dark amber slightly hazy, off white head of short duration. Flavor is sweet, not too intense, but satisfying but not outstanding. One of those its ok beers but don't go too far out of your way to get it.

Pours with a substantial foam head, which I recall doesn't hang around all that long. To me it seemed like a darker colored lager, but sweeter - with perhaps a very marginal citrus overtone. I fealt that this is better than your average beer, but it is not outstanding in my view.

In celebration of St. Patrick's Day, Mardi Gras, Lent and Spring, Pennsylvania Brewery (or the Penn Brewery to us locals) brews this dandy of a German lager style drink for the season. The head is thick and white after the pour from the bottle, and is very long lasting. A coppery bronze color invites you to say "Ine Bier Bitte" more than once. A clean yeasty, malty aroma contains some subtle citrus notes, but otherwise very light on the nose. There is some spiciness and bite to the malty taste, but it is not harsh. That tells me that the amount of hops in this puppy are well thought out before they are thrown into the kettle. Could there be some ginger or cinnamon thrown in as well? The aftertaste is not too dry and by in large this beer goes down smooth! Enjoy with your corn beef and cabbage, jambalaya, fish on Friday, or a spring time salad. Mighty Mighty Tasty!
