"Sergeant's IPA - 5.5%ABV. Another classic. The India Pale Ale is an old British style brew that was shipped by boat to the troops in India. This beer was brewed with a higher alcohol content and an incredible hopping rate to help preserve it during the long journey. Sergeant's IPA is brewed in the same tradition using a 2-row pale ale malt and the prized Kent Goldings hop. This happens to be the same hop that was grown in the Chilliwack area for years."

This was the first canadian IPA I have tried. After a few tastes though I found it to be shockingly hoppy and quite crisp. The aroma is not nearly as intense as Brooklyns IPA or Dogfish Head 90min IPA, however the flavour is equally robust and perhaps a little more refreshing. All around a lovely drink, however not a likely candidate to embody an IPA.

Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a medium foamy head with some average retention. Aroma of citrus hops with some grapefruit notes. Taste is dominated by some bitter notes with some hoppy notes of citrus and grapefruit with some limited malt characteristics. Body is about average with some good carbonation. Definitely better then expected but a bigger malt profile would have increase its score even more.

Quite a nice IPA, with a decent head and colour. Aroma and taste certainly do bring the strong hoppiness (odd word, that). Aftertaste is a bit crisp, in a pleasant way.
