A longtime Maritime favourite, Oland Export was introduced in the early 1920s, and is cold-aged to deliver characteristic crispness. Using special North American hops for flavour and bitterness, and unique natural flavours from Labatt’s special top fermenting ale yeast, Labatt has created a crisp, clean and well-balanced ale.

This beer I crave daily, can not get it in Florida, but have met a few Nova Scotians that stay down here seasonaly and always bring me down a few flats,Most americans that I let try it down here say it is the best canadian ale they have tried( but in fairnes the canadian imports are so watered down I can see how they would say that).I grew up in Halifax NS and it was you drank Olands Export Ale or Alexander Keiths India pale ale,Could never get used to the taste of Keiths , had to be very cold for me to get past the taste, but Olands tasted the same warm or ice cold.

Bought a 12pk in Halifax and saved one to rate. Pours and average amount of foamy head and has a pale golden appearance, almost yellowish. Aromas are fairly grainy and malty. Flavours are also fairly malty and grainy but with some strong notes of grassy hops and some corn. A pretty bland offering from one of the original breweries in the country, much more of a mass produced type of brew.

Just retried this Blue nose beer on the Digby ferry...pretty much as I remember it...respectable puffy cap that lasts (heading chemicals?)...medium body soft mouthfeel...aromas of sweetness and boiled grains...mild apple tastes from Oland's proprietary ale yeasts...but very sweet and corny...has the typical deep gold color of east coast ales...slight drying finish....OK with steamed clams but I would not buy it for much elese except guzzing when your hot...too pricey for what you get with this bland over processed golden lagerale.

Sampled at Hooley's on Elgin street in Ottawa. Poured a light blond with a good creamy head with decent retention and minimal lacing and hardly any carbonation. The nose is boring with a corn malt light scent. Crisp and watery mouthfeel. The taste is mild with sweet malt and has a grainy finish. Overall, boring ale, which I would take Molson's Export before this one.

A step up, but not too distant from mass produced lagers. This one had some integrity though. A good nose with actuall hops detectable. Yes, I couldn't believe it! A kind of gritty mouthfeel with taste being slightly metallic. Chalk it up to character I guess. Not all that clean tasting but still refreshing. This is a pretty decent session beer.

Re-tried this one finally, and I was thoroughly surprised. Had much more flavour and hoppiness than I remember. A very quaffable brew. That's all I have to say.
