Here is the commercial description: “That’s right, there’s hemp in this smooth and polished-tasting amber ale. To be specific, we use hemp seed – one of the oldest and healthiest of ingredients – to create a subtle toasted nutty favor that compliments the hops and rye. We use Cara Rye and Malted Rye for a subtle spiciness and rich ruby color and Victory Malt to tie together the flavors with a nuttiness that compliments the hemp seed flavor. German Hallertauer hops add seasoning and we finish with Cascade hops for a crisp citrus aroma and taste. This wide assortment of flavors form a harmony together, creating a uniquely smooth and flavorful everyday beer that isn’t overwhelming.”

Grainy, grassy, and floral. Balanced body and lightly creamy. A bit of fruitiness and a subtle nuttiness. Not overly spicy or dry with the rye but the grainy texture is present throughout. Amber~copper body, with a foamy head and big lacing. Decent slammer.

This one has a little rye zest and a nutty flavor, as well as a carmel finish. However the thing that surprises you is the oaky vanilla finish. It is very bright and stands out more than the hemp seed.

This poured an amber color with a beige head. Aroma contains some caramel, rye, herbal notes, and dark fruit The flavor is somewhat bitter but contains some citrus, caramel, and grass. Overall this wont get you high but it will do for some session beers.

pours a light brown darkish amber with a thin off white slick of a head with minimal retention or lacing. The aroma is bready, with the rye coming through, I'm not picking up much hop or hemp. The taste was like the nose with lots of earthy hop character, toffee malts, grassy finish, some citrus. The mouthfeel was pretty firm and thick on the tongue while the carbonation was medium low.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber with a smallish creamy white head that retains fairly well and leaves some lacing.
The aroma is bready malts with some melon and a little spice (rye?).
The flavor is sweet malts, some ripe fruits, rye and a decent sized spicy hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and watery with prickly carbonation.
Overall, a decent beer. The flavors just weren't up my alley. -

A nice amber pour with a off-white head. Aroma is sweet and bready with a little spice in there. Nice rye flavor with malt coming through at the end. A nice beer.

Sampled at GABF on 9/17/2010. This rye beer pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is malt, fruity and sweet, slightly spicy. A medium bodied rye beer. The malts are fruity, caramel and sweet. The hops are herbal and slightly citrusy. A touch of rye spiciness and some additional mouthfeel full from the hemp(?) Decent carbonation. Very drinkable, nice rye spiciness at the finish. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Sampled from bottle. Pours a murky copper-brown with a collared white head. Toasted and caramelized malts dominate the aroma with some floral hops. Great flavor with crystal malts, spicy rye. Some nuttiness - possibly the hemp? Balanced. Medium-full body and smooth. A good rye beer.

A hemp beer and a rye beer, but the beer does not get classified as a spice beer - interesting. The pour is a cloudy reddish gold colour, with a thin off-white head. The hemp seed is apparent in the aroma along with some weak caramel malt. The flavour was weak giving it the impression of a mass produced amber ale.
