Pours opaque chocolate brown with a thin buff head. Malty aroma has a strong spple and pear overtone. Flavor starts with toasted malt and adds Apple, pear, and banana notes. Texture is firm if not too fizzy. Joyeux Noel, or whatever you celebrate this time of year!

26-ounce caged and corked wine bottle from Central City, and on sale at $4.00 off. Pour resembled a cola, but when held up to the light it actually was a clear and dark ruby hue, with a brief ivory head. Aroma was mainly malt, with underlying spice notes. Flavour had the spices, along with dried fruits, candy sugar. High ABV was evident yet not overpowering. Buttery mouthfeel. Sweet finish, mercifully not cloying.

330 ml bottle Christmas 2009, bought in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 9%. Beautiful chestnut colour, clear first, gets murky when the yeast is poured in. Big beige head. Strong aroma of Christmas spices, malts and caramel, some vinous notes too. The mouthfeel is fuller and richer than the 6% version. The flavour is very malty and sweet, notes of Christmas spices, figs and candi sugar.
