Unique brew -- clear, dark reddish brown, with a distinct sour cream/sharp cheddar aroma/flavor, as well as notes of chocolate and coffee. Halfway through the bottle, can definitely feel the 10.5% ABV; however it's nicely hidden in the flavor. Other than cheese/chocolate/coffee, can also detect some slightly sour dark fruit. Mmm, nice texture, too. One of the stronger English strong ales I've ever tasted.

Opaque black beer with a fine bubbled, brown foam. Swoops in smooth and quietly before releasing fire through your nose! The alcohol is strong in this one but it doesn't get in the way at all. Aroma and flavor were not as impressive. Oak and vanilla stand out in this fairly sweet beer.

A brownish-black beer with some ruby highlights in the light. There is a huge creamy tan head with good hang time. Nice lacing that included a thing ringlet, cap and splotchy film clinging to the glass. The heat of this beer is the first thing I notice as it rises to the nose, It’s roasty, chocolate in the nose. Nice chocolate and roasted malt stick to the tongue. Very resiny. Very thick and again, very warm.

Bourbon Barrel Stout at 11% ABV. Pours a dark copper colour with a creamy-bubbly beige head, good retention and some creamy-bubbly lacing. Dark fruit aromas with roasted malts, burnt wood, leather and hints of nuts. The flavours are more on the chocolate malt to start with, but some nice warming, well-balanced mouthfeel continues with some light sweetness from the bourbon oak barrel, also creating some vanilla in the finish. Still, lots of dark fruits. Everything is so well-blended. A very nice brew.

The beer pours a solid black colour with a half inch creamy brown cap. The aroma is roasted malt, vanilla, dark chocolate, and weak alcohol notes. The flavour is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, vanilla, and oak. Not my thing flavour wise.

Bottle from Sam. Almost flat dark brown pour with a short beige head, some lacing. Nice whiskey, malt and molasses aromas and flavors, a bit of booze, bready and tasty. Big beer, slow sipper. Thanks Sam.

2013 Vintage. 10% Bourbon Barrel Stout on the label. Pours with a minimal amount of head, no retention or lace. Chocolate a little smoke and bourbon aroma. Body is a little thin for the stile but the big flavour makes up for that. Sweet milk chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits and a smoky bourbon aftertaste. Good for desert.

Was really impressed with the body, flavor and drinkability of this beer, dragons milk is a fitting description for sure. As high as the alcohol content is the booze factor does not overpower the flavor. The hint of oak is really subtle but adds a nice layer to the flavor profile.

HAd this wonderful beer at the local tavern at the GTMW pre-party. Pretty fantastic, I must say. Pours a dark brownish black colour, nice medium sized tan head. Aroma is burnt toast, cinnamon, toffee and chocolate. Taste is full, a little hotness, semi fruity and clean rich finish.

Pours deep ruby/brown with a slight, thin tan head that diminishes quickly and leaves no lacing. Thin in the mouth, but tastes smokey porter-like. Roasted malt, chocolate and raisen abounds in the aroma and flavor.

Pours dark brown with a small tan head which quickly disappears. Little to no lacing on the sides of the glass. The aroma of bourbon dominates the smell. Oak and bourbon mixes with a hint of vanilla and darkly roasted malt. Bourbon does not overpower, but is very upfront. A tasty brew, somewhat like a stout, but not as full bodied. A pleasant surprise. This would make a good cold weather brew.
