This Eisbock was lagered a full year and then frozen to incomparable smoothness. This is a big and complex beer, suitable for laying down or consuming immediately, serve at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. A few times a year, we will cut Dan Carey loose to brew whatever he chooses, uncensored, uncut, UNPLUGGED. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again. Eisbock is the first of our Unplugged series of beers.

Rated June 2013. It pours with a deep copper body with virtually no head at all. The aroma offers up brown sugar stewed sweet cherries and then raisins, dates and a bit of molasses. The taste is rich and sweet nectar like with sweet prune juice and ripe cherries as well as smooth sweet molasses. At times I seem to be getting a rich apple cider sensation. Pretty darn nice.

Jan. 2010 - Thanks to eaglefan538 for sharing. Pour was reddish brown with a deliciously sweet aroma. Flavor was sweet, doppelbockesque with hints of cherry. The only slight was the maple/soy like flavor which I’m not fond of...but thankfully, it had enough else going on that I enjoyed this one.

This poured a dark amber to brown color. The aroma is very malty and filled with chocolate and caramel. The flavor is quite sweet with some candi sugar, dark fruit, and caramel. The aftertaste was smooth for the ABV. Good beer.

Poured an amber color with a small, off white head that left light, sticky, lacing on the glass. Aroma of nuts, whisky, caramel malts, smoke, wood, and some oxidation. Taste of caramel malts, some citrus fruits, dried fruits, black pepper, nuts, and some alcohol in the finish. Thanks hopdog!

05.13.05 12oz bottle thanks to MrFacto. Beautiful cherry brown pour. Thick tan head of dense foam quickly fades to a thin ring, as expected. Aromas are sweet sugar and molasses, light maple, hints of soy; patriarch tobacco touches like yesterday’s smoke rings. The body is slick but medium-light. Tanned leather, more tobacco, anise, allspice. So smooth and all the flavors and aromas are wonderfully integrated. Thanks for this treat, Matt!

Dark copper color. Large head. Aroma is malty and fruity, with a hint of candy sugar. Malty and fruity. Loads of different fruit flavors; apples, figs, raisins and toffee. Bready and yeasty. Are we sure this stuff is brewed in Wisconsin and not in small place in Belgium? Well balanced. Incredibly smooth. Very nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly malty.

The first eisbock I have really enjoyed. The beer pours from the bottle with a dark brown, ruddy body and no head. This smells of apple sourness, cinnamon and malt. The taste is apples, cinnamon and raisins. As the beer warms, it becomes more bready and malty. Excellent. I would like to age a few of these. Not disgustingly sweet as the couple of other eisbocks I have had. New Glarus continues to impress me.

Bottle. Thanks ClarkVV. Deep brown in color with a nice tan head. Malty. Roasty chocolate notes. Very smooth. Complex. Caramel, fruity flavors. Full bodied. Well balanced beer. Thick palate. Alcohol is very noticable. Creamy malt consistency. Rich. Enjoyable brew. Nice.

dark, yet not too dark, but dark. has a very grainey/ caramel aroma to it. taste is kinda the same, yet very watered down, but not as much as to make it suck, so its pretty damn decent.
