Every couple of years, New Belgium Brewing (Fort Collins, CO) switches up their seasonal releases. It keeps the brewers creative, and keeps you the drinker entertained and full of flavor. That’s where this story starts to accumulate (pun). In the works for colder weather is Accumulation, a white IPA. Not every cold weather beer has to be a stout right? White IPAs are brewed with a large amount of wheat malt. Wheat softens the mouthfeel, making the beer smoother, creamier. ACCUMULATION White IPA was inspired by the white beauty that falls each winter from our Colorado sky. Flurries of Mosaic and Amarillo hops bring soft fruit and citrus flavor, followed by a layer of bitter. Piled high in IBUS, Accumulation will make your winter brighter.

Pours a bright lemon yellow with a medium sized white head, with a lot of lacing. The aroma was of fresh grains, lemon, grassy. The taste was quite grainy, a bit sweet with an earthy grassy flavor the blends well with the grapefruit bitterness that builds. The citrus and bitter flavors end with a dry lasting finish. The mouthfeel was medium in body with lively carbonation.

aroma of citrus, fruity hops and some malts as well. Slightly hazy lemon yellow body, the head is fluffy but recedes fairly fast leaving some nice thick lace. Flavor leans towards pine hops and wheat with a touch of yeast, medium bitter on the back side

I picked a 6'er of this beer up from the Kroger in Salem, VA. This was a surprisingly nice beer. I wasn't sure I would like it as I was expecting something else - but it was like a wheat hoppy bomb. It was okay.

Hoppy aroma has an underpinning of coriander and a subtle note of roast malt. Pours a clear solar yellow with a thick and fluffy snow white head. Flavor is quite hoppy yet scarcely bitter, and has fruity and malty hints - although the coriander doesn't make an appearance. Lively texture is fizzy and leaves a woody hop finish. Be sure to accumulate this - but do so responsibly.

I really like white ipa as a style. I wasn't sure about it as a winter style but it works. Mild coriander and orange and a surprisingly pungent hop aroma and aftertaste. Lots of victims and pine. Solid brew worthy of a new winter seasonal.

This was a nice clear surpise in a bottle, Aroma's and flavor were great. I have used lots of Amarillo hops, not the Mosaic yet.Need to explore this beer some more. The New Belgium brewery did another fine job on this beer.

Brother-in-law's Thanksgiving offering. Straw yellow in color, medium white head, some lacing. Pink grapefruit and citrus upfront in nose and flavor, slight Belgian yeast qualities, pine and lightly sweet malts. Refreshing, actually the wheat beer that my brother-in-law acknowledges that he likes! Very similar to Yazoo's 10th Anniversary White IPA.

Sampled on 11/15/2013 using a Sierra Nevada IPA Glass. This IPA pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is piney and grapefruity, fruity and tropical. A medium to light bodied India Pale Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are grapefruity and citrusy with some tropical and pine. Lively carbonation. Interesting balance between the malts, yeasts and hops. Somewhat like a wit, but hopped like a double IPA. Not your traditional winter beer beer, it much lighter in body and malts than one would expect, yet the hoppiness tend to linger so it is sort of working for me. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is bitter.

First 12 oz. bottles of New Belgium bought in FL....Woohoo! I wish this was around in the summer. This is an IPA and spiced Belgian white blend. Some piney and grapefruit citrus in the hops, but also seems like there is slight orange flavor in there. An interesting brew, but tasty and very refreshing. Has that light feel, but is actually 6.2%.
