Amber lager brewed with grapes. Crush Beer is our autumn offering developed in tribute to the grape harvest here in Napa Valley. In keeping with the Bavarian tradition of Oktoberfest, this beer is an Amber Lager made with traditional malts. Since we are in the wine country, we also add a small amount of grapes to each batch. The resulting beer is both balanced and complex. So gather your friends and share a toast to the bounty which nature so generously provides us each year. A really interesting twist on a "fest" beer. Definitely grapey/malt sweetness in the aroma. Mouthfeel is slightly more sticky than a standard beer, due probably to the grapes used. Subtle grape flavors but definitely there, light toasted notes, and maybe some apple juice. Definitely fruity and again, an interesting spin on an Oktoberfest beer. Great buy for $5.99 a sixer. -

A burnt orange colored beer with a medium sized, foamy textured white head. Not much hang time. Settles into a thick ringlet and light film. Light nose of sweetness. Bready malt in taste. Big effervescent crisp presence. Not bad

A real lightweight amber beer. Aroma consists of that classic "beer yeast" smell that I associate with dive bars and my grandfather. This would have been really good with some hard pretzels. When they say there is a small amount of grapes, they mean it. I couldn't find anything remotely grape-like in this. Nevertheless, my friend said it was sweeter than he expected, which he attributed to the grapes, and my wife said it had a white wine characteristic to it. The amber base was rather bland and uninteresting. This disappeared rather quickly, as it just washes down, almost tastelessly.
