My second monster DIPA for nearly $10 and my second disappointment. It probably isn't fair to take into account price when reviewing but when you spend a lot, expectations go up. There wasn't a lot going on in aroma or taste outside of being insanely bitter. Bitterness normally isn't a bad thing but I was hoping for more nuance--maybe some tropical fruit or sweet malt in the background. It took me an entire evening to polish off the whole bottle.

Had the pleasure of trying this at their taste house in Navato on fathersday! Our desi.ation for tbe day was Lagunitas brewing co, but tried this as well. My beer of cboice was this fine example of Imperial IPA. Orangy color and citrus pine aroma made my mouth look forward to the taste! Since then my wife found 22 oz bottles at a discount price of $3.00 a bottle, sweet! Had one today and felt like fathersday again!

An amber colored beer with a big frothy textured light beige head rising above. There's some hang tome to this one. Settles eventually into nice film aside the glass and thick cap/ringlet atop the body. Floral piney nose. Same profile in the tasting. Full bodied and refreshing

From Firefly, in a bomber. A modest - very modest - white head capped a body of clear amber. Big nose of hops and pine needles, likewise the flavour. Solid mouthfeel and a hint of sweet to finish. Too bad about the price, though.

Smells like a hoppy barleywine, very caramel malty. A little hazy but nice burnt orange color. Syrupy mouthfeel with an explosion in your mouth. Sticky hops and sticky malts, a great combination. The hops actually burn down your throat all the way to your belly.

Draws a nice deep golden orange color with a three finger head that produces great lacing. Aroma is floral and pine with similar flavors. Intensely hoppy. Thick in the mouth with a smooth finish. Worthy.

Pours a nice golden orange with low head. Nice lacing. Aroma is earthy. Flavor is hops hops and more hops. Has a sweet backing behind the tongue lashing. Very hoppy. Lovin' it.

At the outset, I would be remiss if I didn't take this opportunity to say that I am IPA+ (DIPA, TIPA) biased. I've sought out the BEST in the world (Pliny the Younger, Pliny the Elder, etc.) and know what a good IPA should be - this one is just average. That being said, I was NOT impressed with this beer. In particular, this beer was really oily and too "piney" tasting. I appreciate hints of pine as much as the next IPA lover; however, there was no balance to the pine. The hops used were all "piney" and zero citrus. This beer is simply too one dimensional. I don't regret trying it but I won't be trying it again. Peace, t.

Pours a hazy honey-golden with a decent barely-off-white head - very appetizing. Aroma is quite hoppy and has just a hint of citrus. Flavor is quite hoppy and subtly bitter, and has a whisper of sweetness that complements the bitterness. Texture is quite smooth and fairly tingly and fizzy.

Big ol hop bomb, large amounts of pine, citrus and some floral notes. Thick syrupy mouthfeel, lots of bitterness and caramel malts. Similar to thier double IPA.
