The Irish brewers of Dublin brewed the "Porter Style" until the mid 1970's and we here at Moylan's have decided to revive this classic brew. Chelsea Moylan's Porter is a rich, robust porter cleverly crafted to integrate the aromas and flavors of espresso coffee malt and bitter-sweet chocolate malt. Inspired by our founder's daughter, Chelsea, we hope to begin a new tradition of brewing an American-Irish Style Porter that any black beer lover will enjoy.

Pours a nice dark black with a fizzy white head that takes it time. Aroma is very dark with hints of roasts, nuts and chocolate. Taste is a tad on the flat side with hints of roasted coffee, chocolate and dark malts. Aftertaste is a somewhat thick of dark roast coffee with a little metal. Not bad but may have to try a fresher bottle if I can find one.

Strong, oily aroma fills the nose with molasses, sweet chocolate and nuts. (And I am nuts about porters - haw haw haw!) It pours a luscious sable that is opaque save at the very edges, and the frothy beige head is rather persistent. Flavor has firm coffee, nutty and sweet chocolate tones with just a hint of caramel. Texture is fairly smooth and leaves a soft but appreciable tingle on the lips and tongue. I recommend this to porter fans.

simply put...a huge surprise and one of the best american porters out there. big choclatey aroma and flavor, a ton of roasted malt, and enough hops in the back to notice, all without being a huge ABV beer. Well done! had it on N2 and Co2...great both ways but on nitro...holy crap!
