Tall Timber ale is a delicious, dark, full-bodied English Brown Ale. The use of East-Kent Goldings finishing hops and an authentic top cropping ale yeast strain round out the traditional Brown Ale character. All natural, no preservatives. Perfect with red meat and cheddar cheese.

This is the best offering I have had from Begbie at this point. The Kolsch is good, but alot of the brews seem to come off quite thin. This one is on the thin side as well, but still very good. The darker head dissapears but sticks around. Gets better as it warms. Good carbonation. A bit of a timber note to the prominent malt, like freshly cut cedar with a touch of bitter carmel. Sweet but definatly not sugary, it leaves the pallet quite quickly. Like mmmmbeer says, its good but forgettable.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep amber color ale wit a large off-white foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of deep caramel malt and molasses is more interesting then expected. Taste of also a very nice mix between some caramel malt and light sweet molasses but ending is somewhat weird with some light DMS notes. Body is full for the style with good carbonation. Good and more complex then style would suggest and would have gotten a better rating is it was not for the DMS.

Body appeared to be dark brown but was ruby red when held up the light, a small head was produced during the pour but was reduced to nothing more than a skiff after a minuet but the skiff did last the entire beer, this brew looks nice but need more of a cap to it. Strong aroma that seems to be mostly made up of wood, cherry, and roasted malts there is a nice bitterness to the aroma. Taste is milder then the intense aroma, but still not hard to detect, it was mostly bitter roasted malts and had deffantly a woody flavor to it and I swear I’m tasting ash in the finish why is that? Mouth feel was a touch thin for my liking but was still acceptable. Taste good but nothing great, very forgettable but not disappointing that’s about all I got to say about this brew. Review done while watching “The Prestige “ .

I'm not a fanatical fan of the English brown ale genre but this brew is "Canadianized" enough to make it a good drink at some up-scale Revelstoke mountain lounge after skiing or hiking. (as I'm sure this was the intebded market for this brewer). Poured a clear dark copper color with a smallish, fine-foamed cap that laced out well. Light smells of ale hops and sweet malt, grassy grains. Started with a rather watery mouth feel and bland palate then the malt pronouncement kicked in as the mouthfeel becomes more oily....the finsh was smooth but unspectactular with a lasting bready-biscuit like after taste....very subdued in the hops for an ale....but very drinkable.

Medium brown color. Small white foamy head. Aroma is nutty and sweet, with a touch of chocolate. A medium bodied brown ale. Malts are nutty, choclately and sweet. Hops are slightly bitter. Nicely balanced. Mild tasting brown ale. Would make a nice session beer. Finish is a little sudden. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

An adequate brown ale, but nothing earth-shattering about it. Pours with a decent brown colour and a reasonable head; aroma is somewhat mild. Taste was also mild but refreshing.
