The Mort Subite Kriek beer is brewed according to the centuries-old recipe of spontaneously fermented Lambic, slowly ripened in oak wooden barrels, to which deliciously fresh cherries are added. This gives this traditional beer its unique cherry taste.

375 ml corked bottle (champagne style). Enormous thick head, red colour, aroma is cherries (no surprise!) and red wine vinegar. Flavour is not nearly as sweet as Lindemans Kriek, quite dry really. Light bodied, but lots of cherries of course. Refreshing. Initially a little peppery bite. Moderately acidic.

Pours a ruby red with a 2 finger, pink colored head that takes it sweet ass time. Lots of carbonation. Aroma is of sweet, tart and sour cherries. Taste is somewhat papery with hints of cherries. Slight spice and sourness to it. Nothing really tart actually. Tastes a tad manufactured to me. Aftertaste is slightly metallic. Sub par but drinkable. May have been better without the green bottle being in the way of the taste.

An excellent beer to have after a good meal, tastes like desert. The aroma is good, the color appealing. Sweet, but that is to be expected. always have one like these for the final beer.

Not as tart or complex as your traditional Belgian lambic. Soft cherry aroma and flavor. Nice, if a one trick pony. Very little funk/ sour. Kinda like Kasteel Rogue. I'd get again. Good after meal drink.

Pours a beautiful red with a foamy pink hued cap. OK retention and some sticky lacing. A small lump of foam sticks around till the end of the glass. Aroma is slightly sweet with berries and cherries. Taste starts with some cherry turns tart and smooth out to a nice clean finish. Smooth light mouthfeel with low carbonation. High drinkbility with a light dry finish. Overal an interesting beer, not too powerful but just right.

Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
June 1, 2009
I tried this beer on June 1, 2009 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a beautiful translucent red with a thin creamy light tan coloured head that stuckj around. The aroma was tart cherries, some wheat malt, and spice. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with weak carbonation, mildly disappointing for the style. The flavour is tart, bold, with definite cherry hints, and a tart and bitter finish. -

Poured out looking very much like a darker pink champagne, with a frothy pink head topping a body of what could've passed for cream soda. Aroma featured red cherries as did the taste. Mouthfeel was a bit on the thin side of the scale, and it finished acceptably.

This kriek pours a hazy strawberry red with lots of carbonation. Its big head is fluffy, off-white pink coloured, with good retention and leaves lots of lacing all around. Aromas of sourness and cherry, with noted of berries, like strawberries. Best before date notched off the front label is April 2010. The taste is not as powerful as I remembered. Not really sour like I remember it. Just a little cherry, a little candy, slight sourness at the start, but really not much anymore. Short finish. I also see in the ingredients listed, corn. Is this new ? Too bad, I use to like this kriek a lot before, but it seems everywhere in the world, that they weaken their brews.

Rosy brown body with a pick crown floating on top, don’t know why I just don’t like the way this looks. Very mild sour cherry aroma and that’s it, simple but non-offensive smell. Taste is also very mild and simple, hints of cherry and apple juice with just some light malt. Flavour is actually just more sour then it has flavour. Has a powdery quality to it with a very dry finish. Very drinkable but this lacks any complexity and it just sucks compared to others.

final day get 'em in...nice ruby colour, great lacing...smooth fresh crisp ,like an apple.a candied apple perhaps....nice uplifting sweet/sour cherry smell....a great brew...real fruity, a solid offering...a starter lambic because of its sweetness and subtle sourness.....good.
