    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

    Sampled GABF 2008
This beer is topped by a pale tan colored, frothy head, while the beer is a clear, copper hue. The aroma has some lightly spicy grain and hop notes to it as well as lots of grain character in the form of toasted biscuit-like malt and lightly browned crackers. There is a nice backdrop of fruit that adds aromas of sweet plum, apple and, the most noticeable, berry aromatics.

The beer feels quite light bodied as it hits my tongue, there is a definite rye influence though as this has a viscous-character that belies the light body. The flavor is lightly sweet with some toasted grain notes thrown in for good measure. There is quite a bit of a herbal hop presence that is noticeable up front, this turns into a lingering, clean bitterness that is a bit more characterful than I was expecting. Some fruit notes of berries add a soft accent and helps further round out the flavors. Quite quaffable and this beer is pretty good, the rye could be a bit more expressive, but I like what the hop character adds to the beer.
