Black House is an oatmeal coffee stout bursting with coffee aroma and flavor. Modern Times is one of the only breweries in the world to roast our own coffee, which allows us to be exceptionally picky about which coffees we use and how we roast them. The result is an abundantly flavorful beer that's incredibly complex and aromatic, with loads of roast character and a chocolate-covered espresso bean finish.

Pours a dark brown colour with copper-ruby highlights. The head is frothy, warm beige, decent lasting with little lacing. Roasted malt aromas with dark fruits, molasses, nuttiness and the coffee appears at one point. The taste has the fruits, burnt malts and the coffee is in the background. A little dryness in the mouthfeel. Hops are nicely balanced with the coffee, but this one is a little too in the back to be a great coffee stout.

Taps warm coffee brown with a thick and fine bubbled cinnamon-tan head. Aroma delivers strong quality coffee, roast malt, chocolate and molasses tones, just a little sweet. Flavor presents rich mocha, molasses, roast malt, and subtle toffee and smoky tones. Firm body has good fizz and a lip-smacking mocha finish. Head to the Black House!

This is a solid oatmeal stout base with a light to medium body, but not light in flavor. On top of that, the in-house roasted cold press coffee is fantastic. Evident, but REALLY pops on the finish...finishing with bitter chocolate, coffee, carmel and roast. Another winner.
