The 'oatmeal' in the name is due the 10% oatmeal in the the grist of this brew. Oats give beer a real thick mouthfeel, something definitely desirable in a stout! But the real secret is in our lager yeast. Most stouts are made using ale yeast, but we wanted ours to be a smooth as our lagers! Black malt and roasted barley give the beer its color, and coffee-like flavors

This beer pours a dark brown with a nice tan head. Smell of chocolate, roasted coffee, and oatmeal. Flavor is sweet and very good. A lot of chocolate and oatmeal in the flavor. This was a fantastic beer!

Dark black color, thin, vanishing head, aromas of chocolate and coffee. Moutheel was o.k. dry and slightly sweet. Flavor of coffee with choclate and hop hints. Overall i thought it was pretty good, and i would drink another if i had one. Big thanks to my uncle and cousin who shipped it to me.

I just tried this one recently and was thorougly impressed. although my palate had been slightly worn throughout the weekend, I was still able to notice the dark, rich chocolate malts and soft sweet texture of the beer. The colour was dark brownish black that carried a large tan head. Aroma was nutty sweet, of oatmeal and raisins.

Bottle courtesy Sledge Jr. Poured a brownish color, good initial head and delayed bubble separation. The aroma was chocolate, light coffee. The flavor was chocolate, light coffee, and a milkiness that supported it all. Probably a little too milk chocolatey thin to be better than average, yet this one was still enjoyable. Thanks, Todd, for saving me a trip into rural Western Iowa for this one!

nice dark color tannish head, bitter roast smell and taste with hint of coffee. smooth finish. Pretty good , but as far as oatmeal stouts, a little left to be desired.

*Gift from a good friend, thanks HB* This beer pours black as ink, with a nice dark brown head. Lots of lacing. The aroma is big roasty flavors, with coffee coming in a close second. The mouthfeel is extremely smooth, and heavy. Carbonation is low, which suits the beer well. The flavor is quite good. The first thing you pick up is the roasted malts. Coffee flavor is very evident also, as is the fact that this is an oatmeal stout. The hops are sort of overpowered, but still recognizable. As it warms a little, you pick up some sweet notes in the finish. There is a mineral taste to this beer, which I pick up in a lot of lagers, but in this earthy stout it really adds something. For someone who normally doesn't get excited over lagers, I was pleasantly suprised. Can't wait to try it on tap!

Bottle. Poured a brownish-black color with a thin, light brown head. Almost no lacing. Aroma of coffee, with a little bit of malt. Nice mouthfeel. Flavor is that of a bland coffee. Maybe Folger's, minus the flavor crystals. I'm not a big fan of this.

Pours an opaque black with a brown head that disappears quickly. Aroma is light with a chocolate undertone. Mouthfeel is pretty thin for a stout. Flavor has a nice hop presense. Decent sweet stout.
