Mill Street 10th Anniversary Sampler Pack
February 15, 2013
The beer pours a dark golden-rted colour with a rocky whitish-tan head. The aropma was citrus, pine, and some grainy malt. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is citrusy hops, dish soap, and some caramelm sweetness. -

Pours a minimal size head and goes away quickly but leaves some sticky lacing. Has a pale copper appearance. Nice subtle hoppy aromas with some mild malts on the back end of things. Mostly floral hops. Pretty well balanced hops and malts flavours. Hops are fairly dominant but not too abundant and over the top. Just perfect. Has a tingly mouthfeel. Average retention and medium carbonation. Yeasty and malty thickness. Really good!

Sampled from the anniversary pack. Aroma is of mustache from the last beer. Smooth medium body. Just an average ipa from an average brewery. Cobblestone Stout might improve my opinion of brewery.

Bottle, from the 10th anniversary ampler pack: pours lightly hazed orangey-amber ale in the glass with a rich creamy 2 finger cap. Moderatey carbonated. Aroma is very interesting with the typical PacNW Cascade grapefruit rush but a demure sweetness and some exotic floral-fruit tones. Medium bodied hoppy character, Flavour has a big malt presence in the start but is quickly balanced with PacNW hopping, mid palate there is a bit of complexity then a long bittering citrus finish. I had previously tasted this on cask but this bottled version is quite rounded and tamed, A nice drinkable Pacific NW styled IPA and a great addition to Mill Street’s line up.

Part of their new 6-pack sampler celebrating 10 great years. Pours a clean copper colour with an off-white cap that is bubbly, creamy, with great retention and loads of lace. They must of upped the alcohol content as it is written 7.2% ABV on the front label. Beautiful cascade hop aromas with mild grainy malts in the background. Medium-bodied with a nice warming smoothness to it. The hop is nicely balanced in the taste, between the medium bitterness, the medium dryness and the alcohol warmth. This is actually quite nice and different overall. A very good IPA from Mill Street and congrats on the 10 years (and for building a pub in Ottawa... and being at Bluesfest).
