An interesting spin on the original It's Alive, but I beleive I easily like the base better. A little too dependent on the winey notes in both aroma and flavor...and i'm a bigger fan of red wine barreled stuff to begin with. Still pretty aggressively bretty and tart, but the sum of the parts is a small step backwards, especially for the $$.

Glowing amber haze with pearl like bubbles floating up to the top of my glass, the crown is thick tall and dish soapy, Sour, very sour, and some more sour in the aroma. I can a pick up oak, Belgium yeasty yum, some wheat, some spice……but not really spice more of an odorless sharpness that I’m calling spice. There is even a out of place but pleasant odor of a cherry Lambic somehow in here. The more I smell the more the funk comes out. Taste is better!!!, nice sour, good wood, I even get the white wine. LEMON!! The wine is not at the front of the flavor it’s probably the third to fourth flavor you pick up. NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! My long time beer review pen just died!!!!!!! I’ve been using this pen for reviews for 2 years now, sad, sad day, how will I ever go on? Ok I’m better now found a new pen. The wheat really shows up in the back of the throat, can you say banana? Nice sharp peppery spice comes out but not on every sip. Brew gets thicker and more malty the longer you let it sit, the sour and wine start to fade………………not sure how I like it better! Nice interesting beer it didn’t rock my world but it was still yum.

375 ml green bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 9.0%. Cloudy amber to orange colour, huge off-white head. Lovely aroma of farmhouse / brettanomyces, also a fruity and spicy character with hints of Gewürztraminer. The flavour has a pretty strong brettanomyces character, spicy and oaky notes, and a distinct hoppy bitterness in the finish. The alcohol is noticeable, but not dominant. Good stuff.
