Poured a murky very light brown body with some sediment floating and topped by a medium sized off white head leaving little lace. The aroma is very pungent and complex with dominant barnyard and woddy tones backed by some yeasty and sour fruit notes as well. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with mild carbonation. Flavor is funky with a musty feel that holds throughout. The wine barrel adds a great oaky vinous quality with some very tart apple flavors coming though also. A very interesting beer worth seeking out.

I had this bar at Mikkeller Bar San Francisco. This beer was OUTSTANDING! IT was funky and a great attempt at Orval. I would have this beer again in a hot second.

GEEEEZ! Is this world peace in a glass, where the at odds countries of white wine, champagne, lambic, sour ales, fruit wits and refreshing come to a perfect treaty? Quite large head, though not as large at the lychee version had. Light yeast, some tart strawberry, saskatoons, dry tart apple like yeast. All in all it is quite restrained and refined, a true testament to fine sour brewing, not all about extremes but about really pulling all the crazy flavours into a tight and pointed profile. Fantastic!

This is Mikkeller's answer to Orval, yet the colour is way too dark. Nice yeasty tones with a citrus background. The flavour was a great balance between the bready malt, the yeast, and the spices. If I was blindfolded, I would never have known it wasn't Orval.

A deep golden orange looking body with a thin head and spotty lacing. Yeast and fruit dominated with some spiciness mixed in. Mildly tangy and somewhat awkward in my opinion. The flavors are all pleasant, but don't quite seem to meld too well overall.

Pours a pretty, slightly dark, slightly hazy golden amber with a VERY thick buttery off-white head. The bottle I got fizzed like nobody's business, so have a towel handy! Aroma is average strength, fruity, yeasty and somewhat sweet with a malty hint. Flavor is mainly fruity, sweet but not too sweet, and has malt and yeast hints plus just a bit of butterscotch. Texture is fairly fizzy, leaving a rather persistent tingle on the tongue and lips.

a cool beer. the funky tart aroma reached my nose without lifting the glass. not overly aggressive, and shows no hint of 8% because you are wrapped up in the bretty yeasty goodness.

Golden brown completely cloudy large thick cap produced on every single pour. Aroma is quite and pleasant, yeast, light wood, yummy spice, a very mild funky bite that’s not harsh, aroma is not thrilling me. Taste is ok but also mild, wood, spice, mild yeast, good wheat malt, a hidden bitterness that you got to search for. I’m even tasting some white grape but not the white grape sour. Beer almost comes across dry. This is a high quality brew but it kind bored me with its not aggressiveness, there are more tasty and cheaper versions of this style.

Wow what a Great bar in Salt Lake City... The Bayou if you go to Salt Lake.. this has to be a stop!!

Smells light and crisp.. Some sour fruit, yeast and some spice. Pours a A penny Copper Color with a nice light and frothy white head. Carbonation was spot on with a crisp finish a light medium body. Yeast flavor with some sour but not quite enough. Oranges and lemons and a lot like Sprite. I really liked it.. but very expensive!
