This beer is a part of a Single Hop IPA series by Mikkeller. We created this series to showcase hop varieties on their own. This gives the consumer the possibility of smelling and tasting the unique characteristics of each variety and hopefully helping to educate people about the wonderful world of hops. For each beer, the single hop variety was used in the same weight for bittering, aroma and flavor and for dry hopping. All 19 varieties of single hop beers in this series were brewed the same week and with malts from the same batches and the same yeast and fermentation temperatures. This is done to better compare the characteristics of the different hop varieties.

330ml bottle from Central City. Cloudy pour of dark dark dark gold, and a creamy white well-laced head. Citra hops indeed, with a lot of grapefruit for the aroma, along with some pine. Mouthfeel not all that great. Flavour was nicely citrus and piney, caramel at the finish.

Got to be honest here I have never heard of Cirta hops. Sweet lemon aroma with toasted malts and hints of jolly rancher watermelon. Grassy malts, lemon, dust...or possibly stale freezer..this taste has it all. Intense bitter lingering long time. Bob's burgers is highly under-rated, the show is completely random and awesome no character can function in society. Candy peaches start to show up when warmer, soap really starts to show up to. Brew is very good and of high quality just like all others in the series but realality this only an average beer.

Sampled on 9/2/2011. This India Pale ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 33cl bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is malt, cereal, fruity, sweet, and melon. A medium bodied India Pale Ale. The malts are cereal, fruity and sweet. The hops are floral, citrusy, grapefruity and melonish. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Lots of bitterness, which seems to hang around and not leave. Definitely has that Citra hop character. Touch of sweetness at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

i expected this to be my favorite and it was not a letdown. nice aroma of tropical fruit with a smooth transition to the tropically sweet and bitter flavor. my favorite hop...for now.

330 ml bottle, from Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. ABV is 6.8%, theoretical IBU 88. Deep golden to amber colour, huge off-white head. Pleasant aroma of Citra hops, with the expected notes of citrus, also notes of mixed tropical fruits. The flavour has some initial caramel sweetness, then the Citra hops take over. Citrus notes of course, but also resin and a distinct bitterness. Good, but I think the subtleties of this fine hop variety would come through even better with a slightly more moderate IBU.
